Vice President, Production Finance
Sony Pictures Entertainment is seeking a Vice President, Motion Picture Production Finance to manage production accounting on feature films produced worldwide. Individual will supervise budgeting and cost reporting during pre-production, production and post-production phases. Position serves as point of contact between studio and productions, working directly with physical production, business affairs and legal teams. Role will be responsible for hiring freelance accounting staff, film subsidy collections (applications, audits, receipt tracking) and compliance.
Responsibilities:
• Manage film budgeting process on assigned titles; ensure all contracts, union rates, payroll fringes, taxes and subsidies are estimated accurately.
• Manage accuracy of weekly cost reports to ensure estimate-to-complete and estimated final costs are forecasted accurately. Provide insight into potential areas of risk and opportunity.
• Hire and manage freelance production accounting staff.
• Research, apply, monitor, collect and ensure compliance of film subsidies worldwide for assigned productions.
• Work directly with senior executives from physical production, business affairs, legal and labor relations to manage feature film productions.
• Ensure all projects are in compliance with Sony Pictures Entertainment policies and procedures worldwide.
• Assist with cash planning, currency, tax and banking requirements to support productions.
Education
, Years of Experience, Specialized Knowledge or Skills Required:
• B.A./B.S.
• 7+ years production accounting, budgeting and cost reporting experience
• Advanced Excel, Movie Magic Budgeting, Vista and PSL programs
• SAP knowledge a plus
• Advanced knowledge of production subsidies and tax credits
• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
• Excellent analytical, organizational and forecasting skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize work and remain detail oriented
• Deep understanding of production cycles
• Strong presentation and communication skills
• Self-starter with independent problem-solving abilities.
