Vice President, Media and Talent Relations
Sony Pictures Television, is currently seeking a talented Vice President, Talent & Media Relations with a passion for publicity, talent relations and entertainment/pop culture. Reporting directly into the SVP Media and Talent Relations, the position's primary responsibilities are to work with the SVP in leading the team of publicists responsible for the development and execution of PR strategy and initiatives for all of SPT's current series, international distribution and syndication, while also managing relations with internal and external stakeholders on behalf of Sony Pictures Television. Role will also work in closely with marketing and social/digital teams.
Position will be based at our Culver City, CA headquarters:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Ability to see the big picture and set broad communications strategy and goals for Sony Pictures Television and all current series, developing implementation plans against it
• Manage show publicity team guiding their efforts to create and execute consumer and trade publicity strategies for launching and sustaining original programming and providing feedback in real time to maximize efficiency and productivity.
• Ability to build and maintain productive working relationships with cross-functional internal partners at SPT and external partners at all broadcast and streaming partners to maximize opportunities for promotion.
• Pro-actively develop and execute against ideas to raise Sony Pictures Television awareness in the consumer and trade press
• Communicate priorities and key programs to the Media & Talent Relations team that will execute against them.
• Manage all day to day outreach to press, bloggers, and the media community
• Communicate all series and SPT brand communications strategies and initiatives to the worldwide distribution marketing team to support international and domestic sales and broadcast partners worldwide
• Draft communications briefs and manage press release process in coordination with all network partners and various divisions within SPT.
• Work in partnership with SVP Media & Talent Relations on development and casting announcements to trade press.
• Manage all press events for both the SPT brand and its original content launches (e.g., TCA, LA Screenings, Series premieres, etc.).
• Provide publicity and talent relations support to SPT's LA Screenings and worldwide distribution efforts to elevate SPT and its series.
• Lead/manage awards submission and FYC EMMY campaign process
• Assess performance against goals on a regular basis, proactively making recommendations based on this analysis
REQUIREMENTS:
• At least 10 years of media relations leadership experience in a network and /or studio environment
• Deep knowledge of and passion for the television industry and pop culture
• Strong existing relationships with key press.
• Excellent written communication skills
• Highly creative; ability to generate ideas and execute against them
• Significant experience in public relations and digital media
• High degree of enthusiasm combined with a problem solver mentality
Strong leadership skills to elicit buy in and confidence from cross-functional teams and senior executive.
• Excellent judgment regarding what is newsworthy and promotable, and/or how to position news as relevant to the media and their audience
• Well versed in social media tactics and tools, with an eye toward amplifying ROI and engaging audiences.
• Previous studio or network experience a plus
