SVP, Production Administration
Responsibilities:
• Work very closely with the creative, business affairs, and finance executives to develop production plans that delivers the best possible product at the best possible price; This includes working with filmmakers on production plans and identifying and negotiating aggressive deals with department heads (DP, Production Designer, Costume Designer, VFX Supervisor, etc…), working closely with line producers and production managers on production strategies (budget targets, rebates, script needs, actor availability, etc), and working with business affairs and legal to negotiate star perk packages and other issues that impact the budget
• Supervise production progress thru daily communication with the production, morning reports, hot costs, and weekly cost report meetings; When necessary, travel to location; Work with creative execs and filmmakers to formulate plans to manage the production; Collaborate with Finance regarding production spending, tracking expenditures, auditing shows throughout, and devising solutions to manage costs and scheduling issues as they occur or before expenditures are authorized
• Integrate our visual effects department at the outset in order to determine if a practical, cg, or hybrid approach is more cost-effective. And understand this has a major impact on production, postproduction schedules, and teasers for marketing
• Maintain constant contact with domestic and foreign film commissions and facility reps to remain current on worldwide film incentives and stage availability to maximize production value thru soft dollars without compromising the film's creative integrity
• Navigate FCPA issues in risk-rated countries that provide desirable locations and/or financial incentives
• Manage R&D and early pre-production process to be cost-effective and creatively efficient; Supervise initial film budgeting and review subsequent filmmaker budgets; Attend technical scouts and final production meetings to confirm that the final stages of pre-production are on-course for a successful shoot
• Advise labor relations during contract negotiations, and when considering a distant location, assist in negotiating deals. Manage labor issues on all movies throughout the process
• Maintain relationships with counterparts at other studios and in the indie world to monitor production issues on talent, crew, and locations
• Fully support Sony's sustainability initiatives in all aspects of production from the production office to construction to the movie set and catering operations
Requirements
• Minimum 5 years of experience as management on feature productions, competence in movie magic budgeting and scheduling and cost reporting required
• Must have experience in Feature films
• Experience in the entertainment industry either at a studio or production company a strong plus
• Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to effectively translate leadership's vision into deliverables, on time and on budget
• Execellent interpersonal skills to interface with key internal and external stakeholders
• Highly creative and strategic thinking ability; ability to generate ideas and execute against them
• Strong analystical and organizational skills
• High degree of enthusiasm combined with a problem solver mentality
• Self-starter and self-motivated
• Ability to communicate with creatives and manage people from a distance
