TV Distribution and Content Strategy Intern, Sony Pictures Television - Summer 2018
OVERVIEW:
Sony Pictures Entertainment's (SPE) global operations encompass motion picture production, acquisition and distribution; television production, acquisition and distribution; television networks; digital content creation and distribution; operation of studio facilities; and development of new entertainment products, services and technologies. SPE's television operations produce or distribute approximately 60 programs worldwide, spanning all formats and genres. As home to an extensive library of TV programs and motion pictures, the company also grants licensing rights to customers which include U.S. and international broadcast and cable networks, U.S. local television stations and digital services. Sony Pictures Television (SPT) has formed or invested in international networks with 148 channel feeds in 178 countries reaching approximately 1.2 billion cumulative households worldwide. SPT also produces local language programming and has licensed SPT-owned formats in approximately 75 countries globally. Additionally, SPT operates Crackle.com, a premium video website, featuring high quality original content, TV shows and feature films from the studio's library.
The Miami based Distribution division is headed up by the Executive Vice President, International Distribution LATAM & Canada, and is split into various departments including Sales, Sales Planning, Marketing, Research, Finance and Legal. The LATAM & Canada Distribution division has offices in Miami, Toronto, Sao Paolo, Mexico City and Bogotá. The Sales department is responsible for the distribution and monetization of the Sony portfolio of movies, series and TV formats in Latin America, the US Hispanic market and Canada.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Distribution Content Strategy Intern will be provided with the opportunity to understand how the sales department of a major international entertainment company operates, as well as learn about the necessary tools to succeed in the industry. The Intern will have the ability to gain valuable experience in this role, which offers significant responsibility, as well as interaction with all levels of management and staff. It is also an opportunity for the Intern to contribute to the larger Latin America & Canada Distribution organization.
Proposed projects:
• Assist VP Sales with exploring and implementing content driven business development opportunities
• Write screener and script reports with recommendations to the VP in charge of acquisitions
• Research different topics relevant for the decision-making process of acquisitions and new business opportunities
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Fully bilingual in both English and Spanish (written and spoken).
• Proficiency in computer applications: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
• Skilled in project and timetable management.
• Must be detail-oriented, organized and resourceful.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Enthusiasm for the industry and the business, coupled with a ''can-do'' attitude.
• Enjoys working individually as well as in a team.
• Previous internship experience is preferred
• Working towards Bachelors' degree (preferably in the junior or senior year), with concentration in Motion Pictures, Television or Advertising preferred.

This Summer internship is from Wednesday, May 30th or Tuesday, June 5th through August 31st but is flexible based on school schedule. All candidates must be able to work 40 hours a week and be returning back to school in the Fall.
