Full Time Unpaid Internship
Event Marketing Publicity Intern – Motion Picture Group, Summer 2018
OVERVIEW:
The internship will consist of numerous research projects to be assigned by the SVP of Event Marketing in Domestic Publicity and/or her Assistant. These will include and not be limited to looking up information regarding filmmakers, talent, reps, competitive releases premieres, film festivals, etc. Interns will also support the managing of the binder system and assist with keeping department documents up to date such as film calendars, strategy, memos, etc. The Summer 2018 interns will help the department with the preparation for upcoming events like screenings, participate in weekly publicity staff meetings, and work special events world premieres. The interns will also contribute creative ideas for campaigns.
The National Publicity team works with filmmakers and talent reps to create the overall publicity campaign for a film. They work with the national online, broadcast, and print outlets based out of LA and NY (including ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY, USA TODAY, JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE, BUZZFEED, etc.). The team consists of 6 team members: an assistant, a coordinator, two publicists, a director, and a VP. Key tasks will include and not be limited to looking up information regarding filmmakers, talent, reps, competitive releases, film festivals, etc. Interns will also support the managing of the binder system and assist with keeping department documents up to date such as film calendars, strategy memos, etc. The Summer 2018 interns will help the department with the preparation for upcoming events and screenings, participate in weekly publicity staff meetings, work press junkets and world premieres. The interns will also be asked to conduct script coverage and contribute creative ideas for the national campaigns.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Intern responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
• Planning for and helping at Special Events, World Premieres/Screenings, & Junkets
• Intern will be involved in every process of the production of all special events
• Organizes premiere materials (badges, table tents and event bags)
• Assists departments with auction certificates/winners
• Researching and updating talent/filmmaker information in pertinent documents
• Updating film calendars on a weekly basis
• Participating in department and team meetings; offering thoughtful ideas and input
• Organizing and updating executive binders with current documents
• Helping at events on the lot and working with catering
• Reading scripts and writing script coverage on an as needed basis
• Helping at off-site events/activations nearby (paint nights, outdoor movies, special screenings, etc.) as needed
• Strategizing all media campaigns with fellow team members
• Interacting with all marketing departments including International Publicity and Digital Media
• Monitoring local and national press (online, print, and broadcast)
The intern will gain experience/exposure to the following:
• Film marketing from a studio perspective
• Working at Special Events, World Premieres, & Junkets
• Opportunities to interact one-on-one with executives
• Time management and organization skills
• Collaborating with the other departments and teams
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Attention to detail
• Avid interest in Publicity, Events, Marketing, and/or Communications
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook)
• Proficient in Internet research and experience in a professional office environment
• Entertainment and/or Events experience preferred
• Enrollment in an accredited college/university for the duration of the internship is required

This Summer internship is from Wednesday, May 30th or Tuesday, June 5th through August 31st but is flexible based on school schedule. All candidates must be able to work 40 hours a week and be returning back to school in the Fall.
