Social Media Global Threat Detection Trainee, CORP – Summer, Fall 2019
SPE PROFESSIONAL TRAINEE:
The Sony Pictures Entertainment Professional Trainee program offers a unique opportunity to work alongside the teams that come together to create movies, TV shows, and other great experiences. This Summer/Fall Professional Trainee position is from August through mid-December. All candidates must be able to work 40 hours a week.
The Security, Environment, Health & Safety Department is responsible for protecting SPE's people and assets around the world. The all-hazards Global Threat Management (GTM) team within SEHS is responsible for providing SPE with actionable intelligence, threat analysis, and mitigation recommendations to ensure the safety and security of staff, assets, operations, and reputation around the world. GTM is capable of monitoring the security situation surrounding all SPE assets and productions and generating a wide range of forward looking products for decision makers within SEHS and key business partners throughout the company. GTM also has responsibility for the worldwide travel security program and duty of care requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The SEHS/Global Threat intern will be responsible-among other things-for social media threat monitoring, maintaining department SharePoint data, monitoring developing trends in the greater geopolitical landscape and identifying potential threats, plotting SPE assets and productions in GIS applications and escalating security incident information to higher management. They will be exposed to global security monitoring processes, threat analysis, analytical writing techniques, and tactical social media monitoring methods.

• Finding creative and useful ways to expand the utility of GTM capabilities across the SEHS department and company.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Two or more years of university completed
• Proficient analytical capabilities and research aptitude
• Experience with social media applications
• Strong interest in world events (geopolitics and international relations)
• Adept in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Excel, and SharePoint
• Excellent oral, organizational and written communication skills
• Ability to work effectively both individually and as a team
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Major in International Relations, Political Science, or Journalism preferred
• Experience with GIS/mapping applications
• Experience conducting in-depth research and analysis using open-source databases
