Stat & Tax Senior Financial Accountant (12 month FTC)

12 Month Fixed Term Contract (maternity cover)
The role will perform assigned Statutory, Tax, Accounting and Control responsibilities in a timely and accurate manner. The role will function in accordance with defined operating procedures.
The role will contribute to the achievement of quality and performance standards of General Accounting and Control to support Territories and the Stat & Tax HUB internationally with relevant and timely information.
Core Responsibilities
Statutory & Tax
• Support the preparation of statutory financial statements and regulatory reporting
• Liaise with the Sony Global Tax Office and manage tax queries raised as part of the tax return preparation and ad hoc investigations
• Co-ordinate and review work with 3rd party providers on VAT and tax return preparation to maintain compliance
Audit Support
• Liaise closely with auditors as a key contact and handle audit queries
• Work with outsource partners to prepare statutory financial statements
Balance Sheet, P&L and Cash Flow Review & Reporting
• Manage the integrity of the trial balance
• Contribute to cash flow forecasting and reporting
• Perform relevant reviews and sign-offs
Management Reporting
• Review and approve reporting to the Business
Outsourced shared services
• Work in collaboration with the Service Delivery Centres of the outsource partner to ensure accurate and timely delivery of accounting and reporting in accordance with Global Process Models
• Assist in the continuous training and development of Service Delivery Centre employees
Control and Risk Management
• Maintain appropriate controls with financial impact and maintain internal control safeguards
• Establish and ensure adherence to corporation policies, procedures for financial accounting and reporting and external requirements in US and local GAAP
Ad Hoc Analysis and Support
• Provide ad hoc decision and accounting support
Projects and Continuous Improvement
• Support the identification and implementation of process improvements and enabling tools and systems to provide enhanced financial and operational information
• Enable and support solutions for the business and help drive prudent change and continuous improvement
Query Resolution
• Manage communications with the business and the FP&A finance function
Finance Function
• Work with the PTP & OTC HUBS on seamless delivery of accounting and reporting
• Support the needs of the FP&A finance function in its business objectives
Other
• Support and involvement in ad hoc projects
• Build and maintain relationships across Finance, the Business and third parties
Job Requirements
Education
This position typically requires: ACA / ACCA or recognised equivalent qualified
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge:
• Experience of working in a multi-national, multi-location finance environment
• Appreciation of local regulatory requirements (e.g. VAT, US GAAP, IFRS, Corporate Income Tax)
• Experience of managing workflow and people remotely
• Experience of dealing with auditors and tax advisors
Skills
in:
• SAP ERP system
• MS Excel
• Navigation of finance systems
Ability to:

• Operate in an international environment
• Understand end to end business and finance processes and critically evaluate them
