Senior Financial Analyst, Sony Pictures International Productions
Sony Pictures Entertainment is a leading creator and distributor of entertainment products, services and technology. Our global operations encompass motion picture production and distribution, television programming and syndication, home video acquisitions and distribution, operation of studio facilities, development of new entertainment technologies and distribution of filmed entertainment world-wide.
Currently we are seeking a Sr. Financial Analyst for our Motion Picture Finance Group in Culver City, CA office. This individual will primarily be responsible for the Sony Pictures International Productions Label (SPIP). SPIP is the local language production and distribution arm of Sony Pictures which releases over 25 films per year.
Responsibilities:
• General ledger maintenance including creating journal entries, and ensuring that supporting documentation is provided
• Preparation of cash flow, balance sheet and other actuals and forecast schedules/rollforwards for corporate and MPG management
• Reviewing comparison of actual results with budget and forecast estimates; preparing appropriate variance explanations thereon and highlighting issues to senior finance management.
• Preparation of translation schedules for certain balance sheet accounts
• Review/approval of bank reconciliations prepared in-territory
• Run queries and prepare SAP and excel reports for ad-hoc analysis for Operations and Corporate
• Act as the main point for title ultimate tracking (revenue, capitalized costs, releasing costs including marketing, prints, ads, other) including updating, and understanding of the by title excel based ultimate film models for both released and unreleased titles
• Participation in Budgeting/Forecasting/Mid Range Plan processes including calendaring films with division executives and review of by-market revenue and cost flows.
• Developing and maintaining relationships with in-territory finance employees
• Preparation of certain participation statements (until transition to the share service center). Analyzing other participation statements/payments for reasonableness and proper classification
• Run queries and prepare SAP and excel reports for ad-hoc analysis for Operations, Corporate, Tax, and other lines of business
Qualifications
Knowledge and Skills:
• 3 to 4 years work experience preferred
• BS/BA degree with accounting/finance focus required
• Any CPA, Entertainment experience, foreign exchange experience, and SAP/ESSBASE/Access knowledge are a plus but not required
• Strong MS Excel skills required (Look-ups, pivot tables, macro's)
• Ability to quickly grasp new concepts and problem solve
• Strong initiative and ability to manage multiple projects while working in a cross functional team environment.
• Strong accounting knowledge
• Ability to perform tasks with reasonable independence
• Strong level of communication and interpersonal skills
