Senior Business Analyst (12 month FTC)
Sony Pictures Entertainment is currently looking for an experience Business Analyst or Senior Business analyst to join their London based team on a 12 month Fixed Term contract, in their offices located in Soho, London.
Under the distributed IT service operating model in EMEA, this is seen as a important role in terms of the EMEA IT Service organisation and the delivery of business application services to the regional Customer base and various lines of business (LoB) across EMEA.
The role is responsible and accountable for subject matter expertise and detailed understanding of one, or more, lines of business, enabling IT to deliver business application services. The Senior BA may be involved (as necessary) in every stage of the IT delivery process from project inception through to project delivery and into post-production support and maintenance.
This role will serve as a main line of contact for business users and will be responsible for working closely with all levels of the organisation and all business functions. The role will liaise with Home Office and other Global and/or Regional teams to determine business requirements and common needs for process and system changes. The role will develop Global best practices and communicate the needs of business to the Global IT team.
The Senior Business Analyst role requires a combination of IT system development background and strong business acumen in order to manage key relationships, day-to-day operations and delivery of IT projects. The role partners with the business to understand the changing business needs and ensure that IT's alignment to business objectives is achieved by working closely with the head of Regional IT Business Services and DCIO's respective teams to translate business needs into IT demands and validating that the IT delivery meets the articulated needs. The Senior BA role may provide application services and perform project support activities, and should be well versed in business analysis and project management disciplines.
High Level Responsibilities include the following (but not limited to):
• Collect, review, analyse, manage, system and requirements from business users
• Document detailed functional & data business requirements, process flows, use cases, & informational needs
• Work with the ADM (Application Dev & Maintenance) technical leads and Vendors to clarify functional requirements
• Primary liaison to the QA team, creating test scenarios and perform UAT
• Serve as a liaison to other teams in planning, co-ordination, development and deployment of multi-team enhancements or projects
• Ensures delivery of project and enhancement requirements meet the requirements defined by the business customer, raising issues/risks as required
• Accountable for ensuring training needs are met for new, or existing, applications
As a specialist in processes and systems in a particular line of business, this role is responsible for defining the functional aspects of software development projects/changes. The end product should fulfil the business and technology requirements, and be delivered to specification, on-time and to a high level of quality.
A specialist will likely have an expert understanding of a particular packaged software solution or platform. In conjunction with the latter they will have an understanding of the configuration and integration capabilities of such software, as well as the overall business process knowledge and the industry benefits of the software / platform.
Detailed Responsibilities:
• Liaison between IT and the business defining business requirements / IT demand and delivering technology to enable and meet business strategy, whilst supporting day-to-day operations
• Build relationship as a trusted business partner with key business executives and be focal point for delivery of IT services
• Supporting approved business driven IT programmes & projects and participation in building their respective business cases, helping to ensure that they deliver business value. Assess / report any issues or risks to the project or line manager
• Identifying strategic application of IT and initiating investigation and development of innovative methods of exploiting IT assets, to the benefit of the business.
• Initiating and facilitating open communication and discussion between stakeholders. Captures and disseminates technical and business information
• Leveraging the enterprise's IT organisation, infrastructure and technology capabilities to deliver business results
• Capable of managing a team of one, or more, business analysts (or similar) comprised of employees and service providers to drive and own the definition of business requirements
• Identifying and acquiring new IT services for the business and owning documentation of such to input to the IT Service Catalogue
• Managing demand for applications work and prioritising requests for application enhancements and new development across the business portfolio supported
• Establishing and monitoring the service levels as developed and agreed in association with the business, with the BRM and ADM Service Delivery Managers and Sr. Application Leads
• Ensure that all demand from the business enters the IT demand pipeline appropriately and reporting status on that demand back to business constituents and IT management
• Providing VIP support in conjunction with and on behalf of the Global Service Desk, acting as a point of escalation for incidents with high business impact
• May be required to assist with Level 2 and/or 3 support in incident and problem resolution

• Business cases as required to support demand from the business
• Business Requirements Definition documents
• Functional Design documents
• Validation of Technical Deliverables relating to Functional Design documents
• UAT & Regression Test Plan, Scenario's and Test Data
• IT and Business Cutover Plan
• Contingency and Back-out Plan
• Status Reporting e.g. Scorecard, Project Plan, Issue & Risk Log, Action Tracker, Deliverable Tracker
• Business insights enabled through IT
• Performance reviews (if/when applicable)
