Senior Analyst (Financial and Business Development)
The London based finance department keeps divisional president appraised of all finance related matters for the group primarily ensuring that a strong financial strategy is in place to support the division in achieving its goals and objectives.
The Senior Financial Analyst will have the opportunity to apply business and financial expertise to the international television industry, interact with senior executives, and contribute to SPT's strategic direction. The position will report into the SVP Finance, International Production, working closely with the SVP, Strategy & Business Development.
This position is responsible for commercial Financial Planning activities and ensuring all Business Development opportunities are fully financially assessed, appraised and aligned to the Divisional Strategy
The Senior Financial Analyst will be involved in Green-lighting new shows and business and corporate development initiatives such as assessing new show opportunities, new markets, identifying growth opportunities throughout the world and evaluating proposed transactions from a strategic and financial perspective, as well as playing a key role in merger & acquisitions deal flow.
Core Responsibilities:
• Provide financial analysis/modeling, and valuations for evaluating potential mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and Joint Ventures
• Perform due diligence, prepare presentations for senior management, and coordinate with senior executives to support and execute transactions
• Monitor existing investments performance vs business plan, and lead ''look back analysis''
• Conduct ad hoc analyses at the request of senior executives and divisional CFO
• Support the integration of newly acquired businesses and JV/Startups
• Support the greenlight process, including coordinating with tracking sales Ultimates and status of new shows, ensuring shows are signed off on a timely basis
• Provide support to the Business Affairs team, to model alternative scenarios for potential new show commissions
• Provide support to the FP&A team as needed, in particular to ensure the material and complex Global Drama shows are included in the forecast and 3-year plans appropriately
The ideal candidate will have the below skills, experience and qualifications:
Qualifications
and experience:
• Typically BA or BS qualified
• Professionally qualified (ACA, CIMA or equivalent)
• Typically 2-3 years in investment/management consultancy or Finance
• Experience in the Entertainment/Production /TV industry is highly desirable
Knowledge, Skills and abilities:
• Excellent financial modeling, valuation and presentation skills are essential. Experience of M&A transactions desirable
• Detail oriented, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to interface and demonstrate sensitivity effectively at all levels of an organization
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, and highly proficient in PowerPoint and Word
• BA/BS degree from top university required
• Minimum 2-3 years experience in a leading investment bank, management consulting firm, Big 4 Corporate finance or media/entertainment company preferred
• Must have strong quantitative analytical skills and be able to think strategically
• Demonstrated ability with time management skills with ability to handle multiple priorities and manage projects from beginning to completion
• Proven self starter and independent problem-solving ability with sense to understand implications of work and probe more deeply when presented with inconsistent or interesting findings
• Proven track record or forming strong, productive relationships with wide range of stakeholders.
• Understanding of financial accounting and reporting, with knowledge of US GAAP desirable but not essential
• Experience of working in an international organization and in the entertainment sector
• Motivated by passion to exceed expectations and to continuously improve yourself
• Passion for media and entertainment, knowledge of the Television Production business a plus (desirable)
• Familiarity of International markets or a foreign language helpful, but not required (desirable)
