Senior Analyst, Business Planning
Overview:

Currently based in Soho, London, moving to Paddington 2020, we currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Analyst, Business Planning to join our London office.
This role is based in the Commercial Strategy team, working daily with colleagues in Finance, Supply Chain, Sales, and Marketing, and sits at the heart of many key strategic decisions taken by the business.

Key Responsibilities Include:
Commercial Planning and Reporting
• Supporting preparing of UK Home Entertainment Budget and regular full year estimate submissions, enabling business to track performance vs target and previous estimates. Populating review templates to allow management to assess submissions in a common format across territories.
• Providing data for New Release and Catalogue forecast models; assisting with sourcing and updating defendable forecast assumptions, including price per account, account shares and costs per unit (COGS, distribution).
• Identifying key comparable titles by market, ensuring alignment with internal stakeholders (Commercial, Marketing) and demonstrating validity to external stakeholders (Home Office, UCA, STX).
• Maintaining models with latest performance data, understanding the impacts of past performance on future performance and re-forecasting accordingly
• Producing comparisons between latest estimate and previous submissions, with commentary on underlying drivers of forecast change (eg BO, market change)
• Tracking actual EPOS performance vs plan and estimating monthly and full year impacts against target in net revenue and gross profit for management review.
Project Evaluation/ Decision Support
• Supporting title-specific scenario planning to maximise GP return, considering potential movements in box office, release date, SKU configuration and release windows.
• Post mortem evaluation of title-specific release strategy (release date, windows, SKU configuration) in partnership with Marketing and Commercial teams to contribute to ongoing process improvement and policy reviews.
• Supporting assessment of potential third party content acquisitions, providing data and analysis to calculate potential Sony return.
• Supporting various business functions in ad-hoc analysis.
Control & Monthly Financial Period Close
• Supporting regular reconciliation of commercial models to financial actuals and updates to planning assumptions.
• Maintaining clear documentation of rationale for decisions and planning assumptions, cataloguing relevant supporting information as applicable (data sources, policies and exceptions, reviews of processes carried out) ensuring documents have adequate explanatory notes and leaving an audit trail.
Supply Chain support
• Support the Supply Chain team in Integrated Business Planning to determine manufacturing and shipment volumes to market for New Releases and the catalogue range by gathering relevant decision support information and making recommendations.
• Support the Finance and Supply Chain functions in reviewing performance based on sales plans, shipments, sell-through, returns and inventory to inform future decisions and event management.
• Review SKU performance and make recommendations for range rationalisation in conjunction with Commercial Planning.

Qualifications
and/or Experience Required
Competencies and Skills
• Analytical skillset that demonstrates a meticulous approach to ensure analytics produced are robust, considered and that version control is maintained
• Clear and concise written and spoken communication skills
• Must be able to confidently use Microsoft Excel
• Experience with Tableau would be ideal but not necessary
• Managing priorities and achieving deadlines
• Ability to manage significant amounts of data
• Ability to partner with other areas of business
• Collaborate with team to formulate insights as well as give support in busy periods
• Ability to produce simple, clear and defendable recommendations
• Willingness to work with others on end-to-end process to identify improvements
Education and Experience
• Degree level qualification – 2:1 or above
• Strong history of working with numbers – through education or employment
• Typically 1 years' experience in either Finance, Strategy, Insights or Supply Chain
• Has worked in Home Entertainment in some capacity previously
• Studio experience an added bonus
• Having worked in (or with) TV Distribution also beneficial
