Quality Assurance Specialist, Physical & Digital Files - Media Operations
Sony Pictures Entertainment is seeking a Quality Assurance Specialist for its Inwood, Long Island facility.
The responsibilities of the Quality Assurance Specialist role include:
• Handle all functions and equipment in Machine Room, with focus on encoding various tape media, mastering, editing, QC, fulfillment, transcode, transmissions to various platforms (Aspera, Runner, Prism, DBB) to support client deliveries.
• Design, implement, document, and train on new product workflows within machine room operation.
• Collaborate with DCS departments in reviewing and solving file and tape rejections.
• Responsible for in-house video production room including the continual upkeep and upgrade of all equipment, providing recommendations to Senior Management. Troubleshoot and diagnose defective material and equipment, ensure satisfactory action is taken and completed.
• Provide accurate and concise weekly reporting of all activities to department managers as requested by the Director of Technical Services.
• Handle and coordinate special projects as required.
Qualifications
include:
Knowledge of:
• Strong knowledge on life cycle of legacy media assets to digital workflow (catalog tape formats to IMF files)
• Ability to re-direct and learn new media to keep pass with quickly changing media landscape
• Strong knowledge MAC and PC operating systems (along with native Apps) Knowledge of Linux is a plus
• Editing software ex. Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere – other AJA control room (or equivalent) and broad knowledge on media application
• Video and Audio compression
• Technical background in Digital Asset Management and workflow
• Deep understanding of Studio/TV/Film/ Post-Production operations and workflow
• Previous experience in Lab machine room is a big plus

3 to 5 years experience working in Media Operations preferred
BA preferred
