Production Inclusion & Wellbeing Director (12 Month Fixed Term Contract)

The Production Inclusion & Wellbeing (PIC) Director is a 12-month fixed term contract for a production executive with experience in the full spectrum of Diversity, Equality and Inclusion practices and a solid working knowledge of Film and Television Production. The individual must be able to manage stakeholders in corporate and creatives functions and will act as a liaison between both.
The successful candidate will be responsible for optimising inclusivity, accessibility, and wellbeing on productions, for example, by anticipating issues before they escalate, acting as a safe point of communication, offering specific situational expertise, leading crew education, providing cultural context, maintaining inclusion on set.
This role will partner closely with Sony Pictures HR teams, including DEI and Employee Relations teams, Legal, and Production Business Leaders.
Responsibilities:
• Identify and pre-empt or problem solve sustainable solutions for cast and crew in the DEI and/or wellbeing space.
• Keep apprised of and make recommendations around emerging and evolving cultural and societal trends and/or topical events that could have an impact on productions and the workplace.
• Routinely and proactively visit set locations and/or production offices to build trust with production cast and crew and to assist in mitigating workplace issues.
• Conduct ongoing research on best practices and recommend strategies for continuous improvement of diversity initiatives as it pertains to creating an inclusive and accessible physical production environment.
• Provide specific, practical, and actionable tools and resources for cast and crew to help advance DE&I and wellbeing focused conversations in pre-production, production, and post-production.
• Deliver (in-person or virtual) Sony's Spotlight on Respect training (or equivalent) as well as other production-specific training programs to Film and Television production staff and crew, including cast.
• Partner with the Office of DE&I to create and implement strategies for training, campaigns, and web resources to support DE&I initiatives on various production sets.
• Escalate employee relations issues to the relevant internal stakeholders and partner with them in investigating and making recommendations as required.
Candidate Requirements:
• Proven ability to facilitate and lead in-person and virtual training sessions effectively, including training sessions to minors and well-known producers, directors, and actors
• Extensive work experience in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment or relevant experience
• In-depth understanding of the production process, stakeholders and environment
• Proven ability to cultivate strong relationships, establish credibility and successfully interact with senior leadership and staff at all levels, as well as producers, directors, and key production management.
• Proven ability to de- escalate conflict and mediate disputes positively, adapt anticipate, and recognize the needs in a very fast-paced environment across multiple divisions, cultures, legal frameworks and time zones.
• Strong knowledge and application of implementing diversity, equity, inclusion, wellbeing and accessibility best practices, concepts and programmes as well as a passion for advancing these principles in the workplace and industry.
• Goal-oriented and possesses the ability to prioritise regularly in an ever-changing environment.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with many cross-functional internal and external partners, in an environment with a high sense of urgency
• Demonstrated cross-cultural competencies, including strong emotional intelligence and the ability to engage and build relationships
• Experience in communicating, aligning, and managing internal stakeholders across multiple levels, including executive leadership or equivalent experience in a client-facing role.
• Knowledge and credibility with diversity and accessibility concepts and programmes (e.g. community outreach, corporate programmes, learning initiatives, external trends, global application of DE&I concepts)
• HR and Employee Relations experience would be a real asset to the successful candidate in this role.
