Manager, Television Production Accounting
The Manager of TV Production Accounting is responsible to manage day to day operations for Sony Pictures Television (SPT) productions, track production costs and supervise the on-site accounting teams. This position is responsible for all accounting functions including payables, payroll processing and cost reporting as well as general accounting duties and ad-hoc analyses on for domestic and international productions. This position will ensure that the accounting staffs in the field follow policies and procedures. The Manager reports directly to the Executive Director of Production Finance and will work with Production and Post Production Executives, Producers, Production Managers, Coordinators, as well as with vendors, clients, Finance Management, Business Affairs and Legal and Labor. The ideal candidate will have previous experience as a 1st Assistant Accountant or Post Production Accountant.
Responsibilities:
• Manage all aspects of production accounting including payables, payroll processing, cost tracking, variance analysis, forecasting estimated final cost (EFC) during Pre-Production, Production and Post Production phases
• Approve purchase orders, invoices, petty cash, travel authorization as it relates to the respective shows
• Responsible for preparing pre-production spend schedules for senior management prior to greenlight
• Request setting up of production accounting software and ensuring timely systems' access for field accountants
• Assist with setting up encashment privileges and bank signatories for appropriate production personnel
• Order and track procurement cards for productions
• Coordinate and manage use of established policies and templates
• Ensure production accounting teams are tracking tax incentive credits per legislation
• Review hot cost, cost reports, balance sheets and petty cash reconciliations for accuracy; Closely monitor financial data and escalate areas of concern to supervisor
• Monitor balances of production funded bank accounts and coordinate information to Treasury and banking team; prepare and process wire transfers for funded bank accounts
• Ensure that backup for breakage items is forwarded to Network billings on a timely basis; ensure bill-back items to shows are booked into production cost timely
• Coordinate tax deliverables (1099/T4A/1042 reporting) for shows assigned
• Complete special projects for corporate, legal affairs, business affairs, labor relations and human resources for research and negotiations
Qualifications
& Experience
• Four year degree in accounting/finance/economics required
• 3-7 years Production Accounting experience required
• Proficiency in Location Accounting systems (Vista/PSL/EASE), Excel, MS Word and Outlook
• Working knowledge and prior experience with SAP is required
• In depth knowledge and understanding of union and guild payroll – SAG/AFTRA/DGA/WGA/IA
• Knowledge of studio environment is required
