Manager, Residuals
The Manager of Residuals reports to and supports the Executive Director, Residuals. The role will perform responsibilities in a timely and accurate manner, in accordance with defined operating procedures. This position works closely with an external service provide ensuring a smooth workflow for the day-to-day operations. Using their knowledge and expertise in residuals, the Manager also provides business units information to help them determine the impact of residuals on the sale and distribution of products. This position requires the ability to manage a variety of tasks and projects in a fast-paced, time-sensitive, and changing environment.
Responsibilities:
• Managing team of Residual Administrators and Analysts, including training, coaching and performance appraisal.
• Working with external service provider and internal procurement to ensure Service Level agreements are followed.
• Providing information related to estimates, residual rates, and ultimates to Finance, Corporate Development, Production, etc.
• Working with Executive Director to monitor operating timeline and validate payment processing schedules.
• Assisting with overseeing residual processes.
• Ensuring Residuals Department complies with SPE finance and legal requirements and those internal controls are properly executed.
Set-Up Titles & Casts:
• Supervise staff tasked with gathering documents required for product set-up. Troubleshoot issues related to incomplete for missing information.
• Verify and perform final approval of abstract of product and cast set-ups at the series and episodic level, escalating issues to the Executive Director as necessary.
• Final approval of abstract of product and cast set-ups at the product level for feature product, escalating issues to the Executive Director as necessary.
Payment Processing:
• Provide back-up to Executive Director for review and release of triggers and payment cycles.
• Work with 3rd party air-date provider to resolve any air-date issues.
• Review residual payment calculations for final Executive Director approval.
• Assist Executive Director in resolving Resolve any issues with external service provider regarding payment calculations.
• Review funding invoice packages and service fee invoices for Executive Director approval. Facilitate check request process for funding and fees.
• Follow-up and resolve payment issues/queries, stopping payments where appropriate
Residuals Support Processes:
• Assist Executive Director with forecast and budgeting support, requesting additional information from external service provider if required.
• Supervise staff supporting the 3rd Party Audit Group with support for residuals triggers and calculations.
• Supervise staff tasked with resolving talent, Guilds and external service provider inquiries or payment discrepancies. Identify and resolve issues related to these inquiries.
• Assist the Executive Director to analyze deal point changes proposed by the Guilds and Producers during negotiations for new Guild Collective Bargaining Agreements. Work closely with TV and Payroll to gather information and assess potential impact.
• Provide support related to assessing the impact of guild agreement changes on data/process/systems/interfaces. Provide analysis and recommendations to Executive Director.
Business Administration
• Assist with monitoring external service providers and vendors to ensure compliance with Service Legal Agreements (SLAs).
• Identify and assist with prioritizing system enhancement needs related to change requests to external service provider where applicable
• Achieve performance objectives agreed with Executive Director.
• Contribute to Residuals process improvement initiatives as required.
• Manage day-to-day team/employee administration, workload and overall performance
Requirements:
• Bachelors degree required, preferably in Accounting/Finance
• 5 years of residual experience and extensive knowledge of the Guild Collective Bargaining Agreements, both foreign and domestic.
• 1-2 years of managerial experience
• Good understanding of the financial aspects of the entertainment industry
• Good working knowledge of SAP, interface and workflow technology
• Strong PC skills, especially MS Excel
• Strong analytical and organizational skills
• Excellent communication skills; able to take on a Change Agent role
• Ability to multi-task and follow-through on all projects
• Work on tight deadlines in a dynamic, fast moving environment

• Be flexible with duties and scope of work (within reasonable requirements)
