Summary

SPE is currently accepting applications for a regular, full-time Environmental Affairs & Safety Manager. This position is based at SPE corporate offices located in Culver City, CA and resides in the Global Facilities & SEHS Department. The position is responsible for implementing and managing environmental compliance, ISO 14001 certification and health and safety programs across the organization. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, who has demonstrated success implementing similar programs.
Essential Functions of the Job
• Manage and be responsible for day-to-day environmental compliance for plant level environmental programs including waste management, water pollution control, spill plans and response, emergency planning and release reporting, tank management, and other applicable environmental requirements
• Partners with other EHS leaders to ensure EHS management systems (i.e., SPE ISO 14001, ISO 45001) are implemented to mitigate risk to people, property, community, and brand.
• Prepare and submit regulatory reports including the SCAQMD Annual Emissions Report, Biennial Waste Report, Annual Electronics Waste Report, Hazardous Materials Business Plan, SCAQMD 1415 Refrigerant Registration and Wastewater Self-Monitoring Reports.
• Maintain air, water and waste permits.
• Support the global Environmental Management System (EMS) and ISO14001 program to achieve and maintain global certification for sites. Act as the Site Environmental Management Representative (EMR) for the studio lot, responsible for management of the program including aspects & impacts, tracking targets and objectives, regular committee meetings and other requirements.
• Work with facilities and construction to assess buildings for asbestos and lead. Maintain asbestos and lead project database. Assist with abatement when required.
• Work together with Sr. EHS manager, facilities, and studio operations to ensure SPE proactively seek and implement safety, waste, and water conservation measures.
• Maintain a hazardous materials spill prevention and clean-up program and provide site emergency response leadership in case of spills for North America SPE operations
• Assists with the development of EHS training and awareness materials
• Monitor for new safety and environmental regulations and implement site requirements (e.g., HazCom)
• Investigate indoor air quality and industrial hygiene issues
• Manage the EHS compliance calendar to ensure all EHS compliance reports and tasks are completed
• Helps monitor closure of corrective and preventive actions for local SPE sites in southern California
• Manage contracts and contractors
• Assist with injury investigation, reporting, and documentation
• Assist in the implementation of health and safety programs including fall protection, Lockout / Tagout, Confined Space, Respiratory Protection, Hazard Communication, Electrical Safety and Ladder Safety
• Regularly evaluates EHS programs and procedures, conducts periodic inspections of facilities and equipment to identify unsafe conditions and environmental hazards for improvement; issues notices of unsafe working conditions or hazard along with recommendations to safeguard employee health and/or protect the environment.
• Researches and recommends personal protective equipment, safety equipment and solutions, solicits quotes and procures equipment.
Education & Experience
Requirements
• Graduation from an accredited four-year university, preferably with a degree in safety, biology, engineering, environmental science, or related field.
• 3+ years managing EHS compliance programs for a large organization
• Experience with ISO14001, SCAQMD, DTSC, and OSHA
• Certifications in ISO14001/ 45001 certified lead auditor, AHERA Asbestos Building Inspector, DOT, Fall Protection Competent Person and HAZWOPER preferred

• Data analysis and ability to generate summary graphs and reports.
• Ensure a high-level of internal customer satisfaction and effective relationship building across a union and office-based workforce.
• Ability to speak and write clearly, persuasively and elicit cooperation.
• Ability to climb up to 60' feet on a roof and ladders
• Facilitation skills in working with multi-disciplinary and multi-agency groups.
• Ability to work in an environment where changing priorities are the norm and flexibility is a must.
