The Company
Sony Pictures Entertainment is a 'big six' studio responsible for blockbuster films such as Jumanji and Peter Rabbit, and legendary TV Shows such as Breaking Bad and The Crown. The role of Marketing Intern – TV Series will be placed within the marketing team of the Distribution division for the UK, responsible for the distribution of film and television content, through both TV broadcast and ownership of physical disc or digital download.
The Role – 12 month paid placement from July 2020
Based in Paddington, this is an exciting opportunity suited to an undergraduate student looking for a year in industry as part of their degree, to experience the fast-paced multinational environment of TV series distribution. Working on the marketing of series in the UK broadcast and home entertainment markets, the role will have opportunities for development and involvement in creative direction and branding, events, B2B marketing, influencer marketing and physical product management.
Over the course of the placement we will aim to give you a solid grounding in the key elements of the distribution of television properties, developing your understanding of B2B relationships and giving you confidence to present creative marketing ideas.
Through a combination of training and experience gained from the brand management support areas of the role, by the end of the placement we would expect that you will be competent in managing the end to end process of a creative brief. Exposure to clients and hands on experience working with creative agencies will give you a solid understanding of the process of making a concept a reality.
This valuable insight will give you the ability to manage ATL and BTL budgets, including media, social, PR and promotions, creative and events, a skill essential across all industries.
Other key duties will include:
Creative coordination
• Develop creative CRM email assets which communicate key series updates
• Manage design approvals with broadcasters and producers
• Work with LA office to facilitate localised product assets and create bespoke assets to be used in channel specific pitches
• Work alongside the sales team on execution of key account priorities including timely supply of assets to broadcasters.
• Drive development of sales assets including trade ads, sales presentations and materials in line with marketing positioning
• Bringing ideas and concepts to life with visual aids
Scheduling & Internal Information Flow
• Capturing key updates on our new series and communicating to the team
• Monitoring competitive activity and maintaining the release schedule for our titles
• Maintenance and distribution of the TV tracker: weekly updates of SPHE & competitor programmes, ratings and sales.
• Distributing Weekly market updates
• Create and update various spreadsheets for the TV Distribution department
• Creation of regular meeting assets and reports
Admin & budget management
• RSVP and guestlist management for screening events
• Responsible for raising and tracking Purchase Orders
• Understanding and managing P&Ls for new releases
Other:
• Induction sessions with key areas of the business to ensure a working knowledge of the company and industry
• Refining our approach to influencer marketing to generate organic noise around shows
• Weekly one to one sessions with line manager to receive constant feedback
• Placement days with all key agencies across the marketing mix (Media, Creative, PR) to ensure a working knowledge of the disciplines
• Opportunity to meet the UK's leading TV channels to gain a high level view of the industry
Candidate Requirements:
Whilst there is no prerequisite degree for the role, you will demonstrate a passion for marketing and the entertainment industry, as well have a keen creative eye and be a confident communicator.
You should also be able to meet and demonstrate the following criteria:

• Entrepreneurial approach and initiative to present own ideas
• Creative flair and passion
• Demonstrable analytical and numeracy skills
• Excellent communication skills, written and oral
• Task and results orientated
• MS Office Suite required, particularly PowerPoint and Excel
• A plus, but not required, is a basic understanding of Photoshop

You are presenting a proposal to a UK broadcaster to license our new show Alex Rider. Detail how you would excite the acquisitions team about the show. You may wish to include your approach to visual assets and how you would share information about the show in a creative and memorable way. (250 words)
One year after its launch on Netflix, The Crown is set to release on DVD in October. Outline your core target audience and your choice of media to reach them. (250 words)
