Financial Analyst - Studio Operations & Production Services
The Studio Operations Group is seeking to hire a Business Planning Financial Analyst to support the Production Services and Post Production businesses. The Production Services group manages the sound stages on the lot as well as location shoots in addition to the support services including Lighting & Grip, Transportation and Property and Wardrobe rentals to support all production related activities. The Post Production group consists of sound creation and editorial services, sound element recording and re-recoding services, picture editorial services, editorial and screening room rentals and equipment rentals. The majority of the Analyst's role will be developing and maintaining models/metrics, budgeting/forecasting and mid-range planning to better analyze and grow the business.
Responsibilities:
Business Planning
• Assist in the development and maintenance of the Production Services and Post Production reports including Allocation models, stage grids, department budget models etc.
• Generate data and market driven analyses for cost benefit analyses for potential capital purchases
• Assist in data gathering and analysis of completed capital purchases for all areas
• Analyze revenue trends (SPE vs 3rd-party, TV vs Feature) and facilitate more robust reporting for Stages and stage support services
• Analyze quarterly Production Asset Management titles and work with TV and Motion Picture to obtain coding
• Maintain/support the Post Production Bidding Process
• Analyze and review all Post Production bids before they are submitted for approvals
• Perform quarterly bid vs. actuals analysis for all Post Production bids
• Assist in the development and creation of bid templates to streamline the current process for various departments (Production Services)
• Assist in working with IT and Operations to develop dashboard reporting for the Set lighting and Grip departments
• Analyze and develop a tool for Stages overage budgeting and forecasting
• Support ongoing strategic initiatives and other ad-hoc requests:
• Assist in data gathering and analysis for the Mix Stage
• Develop/modify reporting for Property and Wardrobe analyses
• Assist in the analysis of the Archives business model
Financial Planning, Analysis & Reporting
• Assist in the creation of the Annual Operating Plan, Quarterly Forecast, and Monthly variance analyses
• In partnership with operations, determine the drivers of revenue, COGS, and salary variances
• Monitor monthly variances for operations and highlight key areas of concern
• Document assumptions and maintain detailed backup
• Summarize forecast and plan key highlights for management
• Coordinate submissions with other Analysts in Studio Operations Group
Requirements
• Minimum of 2 years of practical work experience in analytical roles, preferably Corporate Finance, Investment Banking, Business Planning and/or Consulting; Entertainment industry experience preferred; Big 4/Consulting experience a plus
• B.S. or B.A. in Finance, Business, Mathematics or Economics; MBA a plus
• Hands-on budgeting and forecasting experience
• Demonstrated ability to handle fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and meet constant deadlines
• Strong interpersonal communication skills
• High proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, & Word a must, knowledge of SAP, SQL, VBA, and Visio a plus
