Financial Analyst, Studio Operations
The Studio Operations Group is seeking to hire a Financial Analyst to support the Global Mastering & Servicing (GMS) and Post Media Center (PMC) businesses.
GMS is responsible for the restoration and preservation of all Studio creative content (Feature & TV), along with the mastering, localization and servicing of this content for worldwide distribution across all downstream (physical and digital) windows. PMC is a post-production facility that serves the strategic needs of SPE through providing R&D for new workflows/technologies, and providing mastering, fulfillment, and archiving services for Sony content. The majority of the work will be developing/maintaining models, metrics and tools to better analyze and grow the businesses.
Responsibilities
1. Business Planning
• Assist in the development of forecasting tools for the accurate forecasting and budgeting of GMS manufacturing spend.
• Coordinate Product Owner manufacturing forecast submissions.
• Monitor and analyze spending trends and track forecasts for potential savings.
• Assist in the creation of Line-of-Business specific rate cards for the GMS business
• Collaborate with stakeholder Finance organizations to understand key drivers in their budgeting/forecasting process.
• Assist in data gathering and analysis in partnership with Studio Procurement to drive vendor partner negotiations and standardize workflows.
• Assist in the creation of Product Owner specific cost benchmarks.
• Gain an understanding of GMS Operations workflows.
• Analyze revenue trends and facilitate more robust reporting with direct volume connections for PMC.
• Assist in the creation of new forecast models with direct volume connection for PMC.
• Generate data and market driven analyses for cost benefit analyses for potential capital purchases.
• Analyze volume/cost metrics for the PMC businesses to further support and substantiate studio/title-level savings.
• Support ongoing strategic initiatives and other ad-hoc requests:
• Understand GMS products and workflows to serve as a financial partner in operational decision-making.
• Maintain dashboards for title lifecycle reporting.
• Partner with SAP IT and GMS IT to create additional dashboard visualizations.
• Develop/Modify new and existing reports to provide more useful metrics and business analyses.
• Create product segmentation analyses to delineate spend across various title categorizations.
• Review Operational data quality reporting and open PO commitments.
2. Financial Planning, Analysis & Reporting
• Assist in the creation of the Annual Operating Plan, Quarterly Forecast, and Monthly variance analyses:
• In partnership with operations, determine the drivers of revenue, COGS, and salary variances.
• Monitor monthly variances for operations and highlight key areas of concern.
• Document assumptions and maintain detailed backup.
• Summarize forecast and plan key highlights for management.
• Coordinate submissions with other Analysts in Studio Operations Group.

Qualifications
• Minimum of 1 year of practical work experience in analytical roles, preferably Corporate Finance, Investment Banking, Business Planning and/or Consulting; Entertainment industry experience preferred. OR minimum of 3 relevant internships
• B.S. or B.A. in Finance, Business, Mathematics or Economics
• Hands-on budgeting and forecasting experience.
• Demonstrated ability to handle fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and meet constant deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills.
• High proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, & Word a must, knowledge of SAP, SQL, VBA, and Visio a plus.
