Director, Info Sec Operations
The SecOps Director is responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of SPE's security technologies. The position works closely with INFOSEC and Information Technology to ensure the correct and efficient operation of security technologies. The incumbent posses a deep and diverse technical background in a variety of tools, platforms, and services. This position is responsible for managing multiple staff members both onsite as well as offsite and in other countries. Excellent people and time management skills are critical to success in the position. The Director is responsible for working closely with the Incident Response and Vulnerability management teams to close identified gaps and vulnerabilities. Additionally, this position works with information security peers to identify and make recommendations to the Information Security Executive Director to improve the security stance and incident response capabilities of the organization.
Reporting to the Incident Response Executive Director, the Security Operations Director is responsible for managing SPE's information security technology, security operations staff and vendor management.
Core Responsibilities
• Manage the Security Operations Team (FTEs, Contractors, Service Providers, etc.)
• Oversee the management of security technologies
o Maintain high security configurations while balancing risk and customer impact
o Ensure operational SLAs and KPIs are met
o Vendor management
• Work closely with Information Technology staff and coordinate changes and enhancements to the SPE security technology
• Work closely with INFOSEC team to evaluate and implement new technologies
• Mitigate identified vulnerabilities where possible with SecOps technology
• Ensure Security Operations procedures are documented and followed
• Maintain expert level knowledge of security tools and configurations
o Recommend changes for security enhancements
• Project management
• Produce routine status reports
Functional knowledge of:
• Moderate to advanced experience working with and/or managing MOST of the following technologies:
o Endpoint Security (AV, Firewall, HIPS, etc)
o File Integrity Monitoring
o Advanced Endpoint / Network Protections
o Application Whitelisting
o CIS Benchmarking
o Mobile phone security
o Web Filtering (URL and Content)
o Network IDS/IPS
o Next Generation Firewalls
o Network and Endpoint DLP
o SIEMs and Data correlation
o Anti-exploitation and host hardening
o Spam and Email Filtering
o Web Application Firewalls
o Database protection tools
• Knowledge of hacker methodologies, tools and techniques
• Experience in Windows, AIX, Solaris, Mac OSX, Linux
• Networking protocols and technologies
Qualifications
Technical/Certification Requirements
Preferred
• One or more of the following technical certifications: Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Microsoft MCSE / MCP, SANs GIAC from Security Administration category, or an equivalent certification in a technical INFOSEC certification
Experience
Required
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent working experience
• 7 years of experience in security operations
• 4 years managing a team and vendor relationships
• 2 years managing IT / InfoSec systems and technology
• 2 years in a roll requiring project management skills
• Excellent communication skills (report writing and briefings)
Preferred (Addition to required)
• 2 or more years in a customer service roll
• 2 or more years supporting network devices
• 2 or more years troubleshooting servers and workstations
• 2 or more years working with malware or in an Incident Response roll
