Director, Data Governance & Policy
The Director is responsible for supporting the establishment of a new corporate data management function for Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) and add value through data and analytics opportunities working with key stakeholders in corporate and the operating divisions. This role will require a candidate with strong background in the functional field of data governance and data management, stakeholder management skills, and experience in leading cross-functional projects.
Responsibilities:
• Lead and coordinate corporate, cross-functional, and cross-divisional projects relating to data management, data governance, and data related processes
• Work closely with key stakeholders in corporate and across divisions to define critical data entities and prepare and facilitates data board sessions
• Prepare materials on data management / governance and facilitate presentations for corporate & divisional senior management
• Develop data related standards and interact with key media industry providers
• Closely work with IT to coordinate the creation of data infrastructure and support the coordination of data for analytics
• Contribute towards the development and implementation of data management and data quality KPI's across SPE
Requirements:
• 7 years work experience in data governance/management related role collaborating with different parts of the organization
• Bachelor's Degree in Business Analytics, Management, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or Computer Science from an accredited university – Master's Degree preferred
• Prior work experience in media or new media preferred
Desired Skills:
• Willingness to challenge the current norm – self-going with a passion for data and strong desire to drive change
• Deep knowledge and understanding of data governance and data management – esp. mapping data elements, defining data entities, standards and governance (including policies) as well as experience with interfacing data providers
• Experience in developing and implementing effective company-wide data policies
• Exceptional stakeholder management skills
• Experience in leading cross-functional and / or cross-divisional projects – also involving IT
• Strong planning, tracking and presentation skills
• Strong attention to detail, and sense of urgency and commitment to deadlines
• Advanced Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint skills
• Proficiency in business intelligence & visualization tools and/or programming languages (for example: Alteryx, Tableau, Power BI, SQL, R/Shiny, etc.) and data governance tools (for example: Collibra, IBM InfoSphere, etc.) preferable.
• Familiarity with the data ecosystem in the motion picture and television industry preferable
