Dir Consumer Products, Wheel of Fortune & Jeopardy!
Reporting to the SVP, Global Licensing & Brand Management for SPT Gameshows and Games, the Director, Consumer Products is an integral member of the Gameshows and Games Consumer Products team. The Director will oversee the consumer products function for the Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! brands, including product development, creative direction, and licensee creative (from concept to in-market distribution) and marketing campaigns. This role includes responsibility for facilitating the internal review/approval process for senior management, production executives and other SPE stakeholders for licensee related creative. This role is also responsible for executing on all SPT management strategies and keeping all projects aligned with the team's overall business plans and objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Innovation and Account Relationships
• Build and manage the SPT IP Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! products portfolio.
• Manage multiple licensee product portfolios including new product development and project management.
• Guide multiple licensees on their product development as they execute on projects using SPT IP for the 2018/2019 pipeline & beyond.
• Manage product development, monitor results, and track progress toward the achievement of the department's strategic goals.
• Drive corrective actions to improve results to enhance brand awareness and to build brand equity in the marketplace.
Analysis & Market Research
• Analyze market research for potential new products, promotions, and programs.
• Monitor current and new technologies.
• Investigate industry activity and evaluate other IP product positioning to better understand competitive offerings, features, benefits and consumer advantages.
• Closely coordinate with SPT market research and external trade organizations to maintain a deep understanding of consumer needs and trends. Frequently gather information about SPT consumers and translate this understanding into innovative products, promotions, and programs.
• Must have a track record of using intellectual and analytical skills to enhance creative processes, as well as a proven ability to measure and evaluate results.
Team Collaboration
• Strive to continuously improve communication with all cross functional SPT & SPE teams.
• Collaborative within a cross-functional team environment
Requirements
• A marketing expert with 7+ years' progressive experience in marketing and product development for an entertainment-based consumer goods company, or related industry (e.g. product development, entertainment licensor or licensee experience).
• A strong command of consumer products licensing business is required; direct to consumer ecommerce experience preferred.
• Experience working on (and negotiating) show integrations
• Experience in identifying licensing opportunities and bringing products to market.
• Ability to thrive in a multitasking, dynamic environment; appropriately sets priorities and focuses on what's most important.
• Excellent communication skills with all levels of the organization, including interacting with Executives to do presentations/pitches.
• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or related field, MA in Communications Management or MA Visual/Design Communications degree highly desirable.
• Brand licensing experience, with a thorough understanding of brand management.
• Entrepreneurial, passionate, and collaborative.
• Experience and proficiency with Product Development software systems: ex. MediaBox Product Approvals & MediaBox Creative Assets Center
• Experience and proficiency with Contract input and tracking software systems: ex. Licensing Maestro
• Good command of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint; some functional experience in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator.
• Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal and time management skills
• Creative flair in both generating ideas and handling execution.
• Team player who is also an independent thinker, self-motivated, self-starter, and a creator.
• Superlative attention to detail.
