Associate Manager - Data Workflow
General Function:
Under the supervision of Director of Data Archive in Asset Management, this position is responsible for the delivery and incorporation of feature, television and other content data into the digital archive, including ordering data, quality assurance on data reports, labeling and documentation, as well as creating and updating relevant information in SPE systems. As part of this role, supervise Data Facilitators who assist in the delivery and documentation of assets. Liaison with asset management and department/vendor/internal functions as required to direct the manufacture, delivery and storage of final archive data. Budgeting and tracking for the digital archive, migration planning and communication of policy and specifications for data archive to internal and external clients, vendors, and partners.
Responsibilities:
• Oversees the work of Data Facilitators, provides day to day direction on logistics activities, record entry and order creation.
• Manages the acquisition of data deliverables for new features, television, archival projects (restoration and re-mastering) and other data resources from internal sources and external suppliers per contract.
• Oversees the movement of data for remastering projects, advises on protocols and processes for such movement, and identifies the sources for such project requests.
• Oversees the ingest, processing, and duplication of material in the data archive and reviews the implementation of asset management protocols for data.
• Manages the correction, updating or other modification of archival data as necessary.
• Examines data at the end of the normalization phase to determine its completeness and viability for the archive; reviews and approves technical reports concerning material in the data archive.
• Documents and oversees data resources in GOLD and other data repositories.
• Tracks and manages data including storage, retrieval, modification, documentation and migration.
• Retrieves and supplies data from the archive as required, and interacts with asset management personnel and other departments to affect the timely and accurate delivery of data resources for deployment in various business lines as needed.
• Supervises the migration and/or transcoding of data resources from physical copies and network repositories to new copies, locations and formats and as prescribed by asset management policy for long-term retention of data resources.
• Creates purchase orders, work orders and other instructions associated with the digital archive.
• Reviews invoices for accuracy and completeness.
• Tracks project status and workflow, performs research and preparation of activity reports as necessary
• Prepares reports for budgeting and work volumes for Director or EVP of Asset Management as required.
• Performs other duties as may be required or assigned.
Decision Making and Accountability:
This position will be responsible for the scheduling and quality control of SPE's Theatrical and Television data assets to ensure they are properly archived per our conservation policies and technically acceptable for meeting all worldwide contractual obligations. In addition, this position will be responsible for day to day communication between post production facilities personnel and post supervisors to ensure that correct preparation and technical procedures are followed for delivery. This can often be very challenging when dealing with external post production facilities to maintain the company's standards for data handling and delivery. Escalation of problems to senior staff members is required on non-routine technical/internal or external vendor issues.
Requirements:
• This position requires 4-6 years of experience within the film and video industry, technical understanding of production and post production and digital workflows, and technical experience with industry standards of quality management.
• Excellent organizational skills required, including working knowledge of scheduling and coordinating work at post production, film and video facilities.
• Written and oral communication skills, including Microsoft Windows (Excel), required.
• Education: College-level courses, or degree in film/Television video production, Data/information or archive management or is preferred.
