Assistant Scheduler (4 month FTC)
Overview:
We are currently looking for an Assistant Scheduler to join us for a 4 month period until the end of September 2018.
This role is a key part of the Sony Pictures Television (SPT) channels operation. This role supports all day-to-day linear and non-linear programming and scheduling activities for all UK channels, using relevant scheduling software (XPA, Vision).
The Scheduling team creates and delivers daily presentation playlists for SPT's London-based Western Europe channels, which cover General Entertainment, Kids, Movies and Music genres. Playlists are based on programme plans created by colleagues in the channel teams. The playlists drive channels originating from SPT's various playout partners.
The team is responsible for other key transmission-related data feeds, including listings, EPG data, as-runs, commercial break files, music reports, etc.
These key tasks include, but are not limited to:
• Works under the guidance of and reports to the territory Scheduling Manager to run presentation scheduling for SPT's channels.
• Liaises with On-Air and Playout to ensure smooth planning and operation of daily programming grid coordinated with technical scheduling requirements.
• Exports daily and monthly programming grids for listings distribution partners (e.g. Global Listings).
• Creates daily presentation schedules with full inventory of advertising & channel branding.
• Liaises with transmission suite over successful uploading of presentation schedules and to attend to matters arising.
• Views all on-air materials to ensure they comply with the brand specification and OFCOM regulations.
• Contributes to the production of monthly schedule of promotional requirements for the channel in conjunction with On Air Director.
• Liaises with On Air, Sales and Marketing teams and third parties to ensure commercials, sponsorship and cross-promotions are processed accordingly.
• Produces commercial transmission reports for global and regional ad sales and marketing.
• Understanding of overall channel positioning objective and desired on-air look.
• Works in a collaborative manner within the scheduling team and with all channel teams, providing advice and support to regional offices.
• Has a passion for television, an awareness of changes in digital media consumption, and ideas for exploiting them to the benefit of the channel.
Requirements:
• Preferably 1- 2 years' experience in TV/media environment, preferably in a multi-channel environment.
• Ability to work independently and as an integral part of a team.
• Understanding of the local TV/media business and overall industry trends in channels and programming.
• Ability to work independently and as an integral part of a team, with tact and sensitivity.
• To demonstrate meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
