This is a Full Time Job
As a Director of Analytics at Sony Music Masterworks, you will play a central role in shaping how data informs artist discovery, promotion strategy, and audience development across our roster and IP. You will work closely with departments across Masterworks (Artist Strategy, Soundtracks, Live) as well as Sony’s broader analytics organization to turn complex data into clear, actionable insights that support creative and commercial decision-making.
What you'll do:
• Collect, prepare, and explore a wide range of media and entertainment data to uncover trends, patterns, and opportunities
• Design and implement new analytical approaches to evaluate emerging artists and entertainment IP
• Develop and test statistical and predictive models that support artist discovery, release strategy, and audience growth
• Produce and maintain daily and weekly reporting that informs stakeholders across the Masterworks division
• Collaborate closely with Sony Music’s central analytics teams to share insights and align methodologies
• Identify and implement new analytical processes, tools, or technologies to improve efficiency and insight generation
• Respond to ad hoc analytical requests with clarity and speed
Who you are:
• Passionate about music discovery and the role data can play in breaking and sustaining artists
• Knowledgeable about the genres Masterworks specializes in, including instrumental, classical and classical crossover, film & TV soundtracks, Broadway, and jazz
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a quantitative or data-related field (statistics, computer science, engineering, applied math, physics, quantitative social sciences, or similar)
• Advanced proficiency in SQL, with strong experience in data visualization (Tableau) and Alteryx
• Working knowledge of R or Python is a plus
• Fluent in music discovery and consumption platforms (e.g., TikTok, Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, YouTube)
• Able to clearly communicate technical findings to non-technical stakeholders and influence decision-making
