Full Time Job
This position is responsible for the day to day supervision of a team of Copyright Project Managers and Copyright Coordinators, helping to ensure that all relevant mechanical licensing and publishing royalties functions are handled in a timely manner to support designated Sony labels. These activities include rights assessment, license negotiation, contract review, copyright royalty rate calculation, account maintenance, and earnings analysis.

Responsibilities
• Manage and train Copyright Product Managers and Coordinators as necessary to ensure proper licensing and payment for all assigned label releases. This includes setting strategic plans for the team in order to meet all label requirements on a monthly and quarterly basis as necessary
• Serve as a primary liaison to various departments (BA, Finance, Release Planning) at assigned label(s) along with their relevant external customers (e.g. publishers and artists) regarding copyright/publishing matters
• Support management of and adherence to the Copyright Dept’s best practices, policies and procedures regarding licensing and accounting
• Contribute extensively to the Department’s ongoing systems initiatives to help adapt to the evolving requirements of Sony Music’s labels
• Point person for the assigned Label Team’s publishing license negotiations re: new license language and blanket deals with publishers
• Coordinate and complete special projects as assigned by VP, Copyright
Qualifications
• 4 Year College degree required
• 5 years copyright/publishing administration experience including calculation and licensing for a wide range of products including physical, digital, audio and video
• Detailed knowledge and familiarity with standard publishing license language, relevant artist contract terms and typical licensing processes
• Experience managing a group of individuals to balance priorities and meet team goals in deadline oriented environment
• Excellent communication skills with a demonstrated ability to correspond with a wide range of persons both inside and outside the company in a professional manner
• Strong experience and facility with a range of typical financial reporting tools and database software
