Full Time Job
As an Associate Director on the Rights Management team, you will oversee a team that works to resolve rights issues pertaining to The Orchard's catalog at fingerprinting platforms and neighboring rights collection societies. You will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and developing projects and processes that maximize client revenue and enforce their rights, while improving upon existing processes.
Responsibilities:
• Participate in and oversee the research and resolution of rights-related issues, such as ownership conflicts, disputes, copyright strikes, and 3rd party claims at fingerprinting platforms and neighboring rights collection societies.
• Supervise the activities, performance, and productivity of direct reports and an offshore team; ensure team members are reviewing, updating, and auditing content maintained at fingerprinting platforms and societies with a high level of detail and efficiency.
• Build relationships with partners, societies, and 3rd party rights holders, communicating clearly and frequently to ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner.
• Partner internally with other departments (client management, accounting, product development, legal) to identify, report on, and resolve issues, while providing an extraordinary level of support for our clients.
• Work closely with team members and management to identify inefficiencies, communicate roadblocks, and suggest improvements for department projects and processes.
• Maintain excellent knowledge of internal and external proprietary platform technology and the processes that pertain to them, with the ability to quickly learn and teach new platforms and processes as needed.
Requirements:
• 5 years of work experience, preferably in the music or entertainment industry; 2 years of experience in a supervisory capacity.
• Experience working with large, complex data sets in a variety of formats; direct experience working with music metadata is a plus. Proficiency in SQL, Google, Apple, and Microsoft applications, particularly Excel.
• Experience working in a CMS or society portal, such as YouTube CMS, Facebook Rights Manager, TikTok MediaMatch, or SoundExchange Direct.
• Outstanding written/verbal/interpersonal communication skills; impeccable follow-up and follow-through capabilities.
• Comfort in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment; positive attitude, with the ability to motivate and excite team members.
• Well-organized, attentive to detail, and should constantly meet and/or exceed performance goals.
• Experience managing cross-functional projects and driving them to completion; able to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
• Familiarity with licensing and the various rights associated with music content.
• Fluency in a second language is preferred.
