The Associate Director, Digital Strategy & Executive Communications position will work directly with executives in the Global Digital Business, including the President, to develop and effectively communicate the group’s digital strategy, helping to set the overall strategic direction of the company with respect to its priorities and deal-making. The role will form a critical part of SME’s Digital Strategy & Investments team and predominantly focus on analyzing trends and identifying opportunities in the digital music landscape, as well as communication of strategic initiatives to key stakeholders.
Responsibilities
• Play a role in evaluating Sony Music's strategic direction by conducting rigorous industry research and analysis, closely monitoring ongoing developments in the digital music landscape, and presenting relevant analyses and insights with actionable recommendations to senior management on a regular basis
• Create materials to communicate complex market trends and the group’s strategic initiatives to key stakeholders in a visually clear and stimulating manner by conducting research and analysis, as well as collecting relevant analysis from core teams to explain rationale and impacts
• Develop and execute effective communication plans, including maintaining an understanding of relevant internal and external stakeholders to address, tailoring presentation styles and information to the context and audience, and tracking progress and outcomes to incorporate feedback
• Be the subject matter expert and point person responsible for informing senior management and key stakeholders on the digital media landscape, both in and outside the music industry, and the future revenue outlook of the recorded music market
• Independently develop and create compelling presentations for the group’s senior management team to internal and external stakeholders, including for board meetings, conferences, business planning sessions, and other key meetings, as well as generally prepare executives with research and data for these meetings
• Assist in tracking progress of key strategic initiatives undertaken by the group to update and inform senior management
Qualifications
• Exceptional presentation building and data visualization skills
• Proficiency in PowerPoint with strong command of the operational details a must
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• Exceptional research capabilities and analytical skills with proficiency in Excel and deep attention to detail
• Exceptional ability to turn complex data insights into visually compelling and digestible presentations suited for a specific audience
• Passion for music and the digital media sector
• Ability to provide accurate and timely results under tight schedules and while managing multiple priorities
• Proactive self-starter with agility to flex from high-level strategist and tactical thinker to practical implementation and day-to-day execution
• Entrepreneurial mindset, able to come up with creative inputs, suggestions, and solutions to a variety of business problems
• Adept at working with people at various levels/functions and managing relationships with a diverse set of stakeholders
• 4-year undergraduate degree required and MBA strongly preferred (0-1 year post MBA)
• 3-5 years of experience in a top-tier management consulting firm or comparable position in a digital media company preferred
