Sony/ATV Music Publishing is seeking an experienced Music Business professional to oversee Catalog Exploitation, based in our New York Office.
Job Description:
•Create an operating plan for Sony/ATV's Catalog Platform, including writer priorities, internal and external marketing processes, and seeking out available catalogs in the marketplace.
•Partner with A&R and BA to re-affirm the Catalog Platform concept: who is in the program, what are the program criteria, what are the expectations of the program from a Writer and Internal perspective?
•Establish consistent writer outreach and close working relationships with Legacy Writers, Estates and their representatives. Ideally, the candidate should be the first and main point of contact for writers whose songs are represented by Sony/ATV.
•Work closely with Business Affairs to prioritize contract end dates, copyright termination dates, renewals and contract negotiations, with particular focus on those copyrights for which US rights are reverting to the Writers or their heirs.
•Align with the Synch/Marketing Department to ensure proper exploitation of catalogs via bespoke marketing efforts.
•Educate US staff and Worldwide affiliates on catalog priorities via internal marketing efforts with a spotlight on catalogs that may deserve additional attention.
•Connect with teams in Copyright to ensure proper registration and tracking.
•Manage transition for writers whose terms are expiring but whose copyrights will continue to be administered by Sony/ATV.
•Grow revenue from catalog deals in conjunction with other departments.
•Assist in Management of writers without proper teams working behind them.
•Work with management to build partnerships for Live Events including tribute shows, tours, etc.
•Maintain calendar of reissues, hits packages, LP releases, tours, and anniversaries of notable life events for our Writers, etc.
Qualifications:
•Bachelor's degree preferred or related discipline and 5-7 years of equivalent experience
•Self-starter, highly organized, and able to work well with individuals at all levels
•Strong analytic and quantitative skills.
•Polished presentation and interpersonal skills
•Ability to deliver results quickly
•Strong business acumen and the ability to synthesize and analyze data
