Job Description:
As a key member of the Finance team, the principal responsibility of the VP of Finance is to optimize the financial performance and profitability of Solstice Studios, combining deep knowledge of industry trends with exceptional financial acumen. This executive will provide the leadership and overall direction for all financial budgeting, forecasting, modeling and long range plans for the company. This executive will identify strategic and tactical opportunities and work collaboratively with the senior team in setting the goals and specific plans to maximize revenue, cash flow and overall expansion.
Key Responsibilities:
-Preparation and evaluation of long range plans, business plans, operating and capital budgets and periodic financial reporting. Incorporate insight into forecasting processes and identify risks & opportunities. Review and gain sign off of forecast(s) from senior management.
-Manage film P&Ls from inception to green-light and post-release, evaluating profitability and return on investment criteria for individual films and for film slate.
-Responsible for financial modeling and analysis of all talent, distribution and equity deals. Contribute solid perspectives and experienced opinions as to the potential of projects/deals. Have ownership of and accountability for the assumptions and resulting numbers. Work closely with senior executives from Strategy, Business Affairs and Production throughout the deal negotiation process.
-Work with cross-functional teams to evaluate and/or perform financial analysis of potential new business opportunities. Offer financial guidance and support of this process through an in depth understanding of market landscape.
-Be the informed expert on all emerging trends in the film and related industries.
Qualifications:
Entertainment industry experience a must
-A minimum of eight years experience with exposure to film accounting, ultimates and production finance.
-Solid understanding of financial reporting, demonstrated project management skills and a proven ability to work across functions within an organization.
-Track record of identifying problems, securing relevant information and identifying possible causes and solutions that anticipate short and long-term business demands.
-Demonstrates success in leading, coordinating and overseeing strategic planning efforts.
-Keen financial mind, exceptional analytical skills, proven track record of analyzing trends and opportunities and recommending successful -paths for business development/revenue growth.
-Comfortable in the transactional execution of the accounting and finance operations of a business.
-Excellent communication skills; the ability to take initiative in communicating issues and status.
Personal Characteristics:
The ideal candidate will have the ability to be a big-picture thinker, but be comfortable as a hands-on executor of day-to-day finance operations. The candidate will be able to act independently, but also work effectively as a member of an integrated small team. The successful candidate must be a self-starter who can assume broad responsibility. This individual must have the interpersonal skills necessary to build solid business relationships. The ability to accept accountability and operate under pressure is also essential along with the ability to anticipate the needs of Senior Management.
