Under the supervision of the Operations Director, the incumbent is responsible for managing all activities related to the department. Throughout the next couple of months, the Manager will be responsible of building a team for his department in order to support the growth of this branch.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate, manage and offer the necessary support to the team under his supervision;
- Plan and organize the daily activities of his department and prioritize the technicians' tasks
- Establish technicians' schedules and assign work in an optimal way;
- Forecast human resources needs according to future projects and in cooperation with the workshop's Supervisor, proceed with hiring human resources;
- Ensure the technical resources management; pieces and necessary material in order to repair, inspect, prepare and maintain the equipment;
- Ensure the merchandise returns management; follow-up on missing and damaged equipment
- Coordinate the schedule and the maintenance process of the equipment;
- Perform the certification of the motors;
- Train new hires on motor certification process, steel inspection and other tasks/processes;
- Support Director of Operations with budget management;
- Work with the Operations Manager for set up of departments;
- Manage other departments as needed;
- Manage shop as needed from Director of Operations;
- Support coordinators with any help needed from DeKalb site;
- Travel on an as needed bases to help with show support;
- Field phone calls on shows to help with show support;
- Help with all transshipments;
- Work with clients in the building to assure that we have meet their needs;
- Build shows if required;
- Start shows off if required;
- Participate to the development of the team's training programs and performance;
- Act as the contact person for the teams working in the field related to the technical part of the equipment;
- Monitor the quality of work executed according to Solotech's standards;
- Identify and eliminate the potential risks related to health and security;
- Participate in continuous improvement of the department's labor practices;
- Participate in continuous improvement of labor practices and department's inventory management;
- Prepare the list of material and labor required for the projects' completion according to the specifications of the event and enter it in the inventory system, depending on the date of the event;
- From the list of equipment, check in the inventory availability of the equipment required for various projects;
- If the equipment is not available in our inventory, analyze available options with the representative responsible in charge of the event and the asset manager do the research and provide an estimate of the sublease prices;
- Follow up the return of the subleased equipment;
- Make the necessary requests for the subleases and/or purchases related to the department;
- Prepare complex orders, scan them and put them inside the transport case;
- Customize the equipment if required by the client, according to the purchase order;
- Act as the point of contact for the teams on the road concerning the technical aspect of the equipment;
- Prepare a schedule for the execution of the projects' different phases: develops the work plan, the budget, the allocation of labor, the calendar and the deliveries' estimate;
- Coordinate the changes' requests with the client and Sales Representative if needed.
Required Skills:
- College degree in Operations Management or a related program such as (Management and Stage techniques, Art and Media Technology, Electrical Engineering or Audiovisual Technologies);
- At least 8 years of experience in this field, including 5 years in supervisory team. Strong knowledge of the rental industry in the show business, entertainment and corporate environment;
- Demonstrate a mobilizing leadership and the ability to lead a team and organize the work;
- Must have a facility to develop and implement processes and procedures;
- Strategic vision;
- Capacity to anticipate problems and to find solutions by respecting the operational processes and policies of the company;
- Strong interpersonal skills;
- Knows how to communicate information in a logical and clearly way;
- Autonomy and sense of responsibility;
- Team work oriented and collaborative spirit;
- Good ability to prioritize within tight deadlines;
- Ability to work under pressure and to adapt to change;
- Strong skills on clients approaches;
- To be recognized as a model in health and safety;
- Experience in an equipment's' rental company;
- Knowledge of the R2 inventory software (an asset);
- Good knowledge of the Microsoft Office softwares (Word, Excel, Outlook);
- Forklift truck driver's license (an asset);
- Master French, oral and written (an asset);
- Master English, oral and written.
