Job Description
SMV, is looking for a seasoned, Tape/Data Machine Room Operator for a full-time position. SMV offers a full range of post-production services from legacy tape to 4K files, including color correction, audio mix, audio editorial, online editorial, data and storage services, 100% quality control, closed captioning, transcription and DVS services, localization, and 4-wall scalable edit suites. Must have a minimum of 2 years' experience working in a Post Production facility in this role.
DUTIES:
· Responsible for all incoming and outgoing file and tape deliveries to all major platforms and Networks.
· Manage all file storage across SAN volumes.
· Responsible for final check back of all files before delivery.
· Must have working knowledge of all file types (SD, HD, 2K, 4K, etc.)
· Assist project managers and account representatives with file checks and managing client external volumes.
· Check and confirm all content needed to complete the order is available to begin job. Communicate with Operations team if any client media is missing or incorrect for order processing.
· Able to assist with all tape to tape, tape to data, or data to data assigned work orders to guarantee the successful completion of all orders according to client specifications and project manager's instructions.
· Communicate with Operations team if any work will not meet deadline.
· Ensure that all work is QC'd upon completion (3 step QC: Head, Middle & Tail).
· Keep all media/equipment safely and securely stored and organized as it moves through the facility, in accordance with departmental protocols. Guards against piracy/copyright infringement by maintaining constant vigilance and awareness of media as it is processed, in accordance with company policy.
· Have knowledge of all VTR formats, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut, AVID.
· Have working knowledge of Aspera Faspex & Aspera Connect, Facilis, Terablock, SAN, ISIS/Nexus, data mover.
· Software knowledge of: MAC, Windows, Linux (CentOS)
· Maintain a clean & professional environment.
· Notify supervisor immediately of any machine malfunctions.
