Full Time Job
Overview: Experienced, mid-level Director that will own day-to-day creative voice and programming of the Smosh Games & Smosh Pit YouTube channels. Success in this position is largely measured by the creative impact and audience response to the videos on these channels. As such the perfect candidate will have extensive experience in ideating, producing, directing and marketing digital content with any eye toward brand health and growth. This position reports to the VP of Unscripted but will also receive direction and work closely with the VP of Production & Operations.
Responsibilities: The Director, Unscripted oversees YouTube channels ''Smosh Pit'' and ''Smosh Games'' from ideation through pre and post production, including launch and marketing.
Ideate, program, and execute on all programming initiatives for Smosh Pit and Smosh Games on YouTube (~10 videos per month, 5-6 shoot days per month)
Run pitch sessions, coordinate Google pitch forms, take in any ideas from the staff and freelancers, and work with the sales team to pitch creative for branded integrations.
Work with VP of Unscripted to select and program videos for the month, strategize new programming initiatives or partners (i.e. Live, Charity, etc.)
In conjunction with Production Management, oversee the pre-production of all videos including assigning tasks to support staff
Prep and work with talent to flesh out any character based ideas
Fully cast each video from a pool of full time and freelance talent as well as coordinating guest talent opportunities, and work with the production team to allow for efficient scheduling
Lead all creative pre-pro meetings with production, art, camera team, etc.
Direct videos
Work with editors to finalize all edits, including giving notes and approving edits
Ideate, approve all titles and thumbnails
Build publishing schedules for both channels
Create, assign, and maintain all the changes in the Post Production Doc (20 edits/month across 5 editors)
Work with the Director of Branded Integration on ideating around any inbound client pitches, as well as proactively pitch potential brands and larger integration initiatives..
Work closely with VP, Production & Operations on forecasting costs and utilizing resources
Work with all unscripted editors to maintain a consistent look for all edits across all channels
Work with art team to develop and perfect a look for all sets and productions
Requirements:
5+ years experience working in relevant production and post production positions (meaning comedy, pop culture, gaming and/or unscripted)
Significant prior experience producing and directing digital content (meaning YouTube, FB/Insta, and/or internet/mobile video)
Well-versed in digital content in pop culture; interest in and attentiveness to other content and creative in the field
In-depth understanding of the pre-production, production, and post-production processes
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while remaining highly organized and detail-oriented
Excellent work ethic and a positive, can-do attitude
Strong written and verbal communication skills
