Full Time Paid Internship
2019 Spring Internship- Editorial, Digital Media (NYC)
The digital editorial internship will focus on research, writing, and content strategy primarily for Smithsonian OTT. The intern will learn the ways we are working to grow Smithsonian in the OTT space, support the continued development of our programming strategy, and gather both subscriber and competitor knowledge.
• Auditing and rethinking digital asset copy
• Supporting cross-team campaigns and projects through editorial research
• Learning how to draw insights from analytics reports to enhance content strategy
• Doing competitive analysis of competitor sites, videos, apps and newsletters.
• Assist in scheduling and editorial upkeep for Smithsonian OTT
• Assist in QA of site, apps, and connected TV devices
• Participate in all editorial brainstorming efforts, particularly long-term projects
• Review existing copy assets/scheduling calendars, suggesting improvements where merited
• Misc. urgent tasks as they arise
Qualifications:
Required:
• Current undergraduate student (junior or above)
• Interest in the Cable/Entertainment Industry
• 2.5 GPA or above
• Submission of cover letter- required
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Superior communication and interpersonal skills
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Ability to work at least 20 hours/week from January-April
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment under deadlines
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Able to provide administrative suppose as needed
Preferred:
• Strong writing skills
• Social Media Skills
• Photo editing/ photoshop skills
• Familiarity with Google Products
• Knowledge and understanding of digital marketing strategies
• Cable television experience a plus
• Active participation in extracurricular activities; clubs; and/or associations. Leadership positions while maintaining an above average GPA, a plus
• Prior internship experience in a related field, a plus
