Full Time Paid Internship
2018 Fall Internship- Smithsonian Channel Distributor Marketing (NYC)
Our fall intern will gain valuable industry insight through competitive research, experience with maintaining the brand identity and learn what goes into the marketing planning for a large-scale, national event.
Projects:
• Gracenote & Tivo: The channel guide for most MVPDs is populated with date from these two platforms. The distributor marketing team monitors the platforms to ensure keyart for all promotable titles are up to date.
• Black History Month '19 Planning: Lock in an event management agency, schedule meetings and pitch the program to SI & distributor partners
• Market Research: Keeping track of packing updates accross MVPDs, competitive network offerings/campaigns and news in the 4K-HDR space
Responsibilities:
• Cross-check monthly schedule (live and VOD) against title in Gracenote and Tivo to ensure upcoming titles have the correct keyart.
• monitor YouTube TV, Hulu and other accessible services to ensure tentpole titles are being promoted.
• help with research projects and monitoring the competitive network space
• Fill out pitch decks, track and schedule meetings for Black History Month
• Collect samples for wrap-up reports and compile into a template deck.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Current undergraduate student (rising junior or senior)
• Strong interest in Cable/Entertainment Industry
• 2.50 GPA or above
• Submission of a cover letter - required
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Superior communication and interpersonal skills
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Ability to work at least 21 hours/week from August to December 2018
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment under deadlines
Preferred:
• Cable television experience a plus
• Active participation in extracurricular activities; clubs; and/or associations. Leadership positions while maintaining an above-average GPA, a plus
• Prior internship experience in a related field, a plus
• Familiarity with Google Products
• Very strong writing and communication skills
• Experience with social media scheduling tools
