Senior Publicist and Marketer, Saga Press
Saga Press, publisher of award-winning speculative fiction, is seeking a creative and energetic Senior Publicist & Marketer to develop and manage publicity for their list of adult science fiction, fantasy and horror titles. The ideal candidate will be responsible for publicizing approximately 25 original titles per year and strategizing cohesive marketing plans where applicable.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement title-specific publicity campaigns for frontlist titles
• Write press materials and pitch and secure media coverage (broadcast, print, online) including exclusive cover reveals and excerpts, author interviews and round-ups with key fantasy, horror and sci-fi media outlets and bloggers
• Build strong relationships with Saga Press authors and agents and ensure communication across both sides as it relates to marketing and publicity efforts
• Plan and coordinate occasional author book tours and/or local area events
• Initiate marketing strategies for Saga frontlist titles and coordinate the execution of such plans with the Gallery Books marketing team
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key media and influencers in the genre.
• Secure speaking/signing opportunities at Comic-Cons and SFF-focused conferences.
• Coordinate seasonal submissions of upcoming publishing calendars and SFF-focused literary awards.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Preferred Qualifications:
• Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication and presentation skills
• Possess existing relationships within the SFF community
• Experience creating and executing highly successful title-based media campaigns
• Demonstrated booking and author tour management skills
• Established network of broadcast, print and digital contacts
• Must have good time management skills, be organized and detail-oriented, and capable of multi-tasking
• Have the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and work independently and demonstrate good follow-up and follow-through.
• Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple projects and work flexibly and quickly
• Experience in and passion for science fiction, fantasy and horror
Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree
• 2-3 years relevant publicity or marketing experience, ideally in a genre field
