Showtime is looking for a culture-loving, news and documentary superfan to be the strategic social and digital lead for our non-fiction programming! This role will be a crucial partner to our VP, Digital & Social Marketing in driving the vision and evolution of the brand and unscripted initiatives. They will lead a team to produce digital campaigns with a focus on driving fan engagement, acquisition, and viewership!
The ideal candidate brings significant experience in television/entertainment, leading both strategic direction and campaign execution. This Sr. Director will work cross-functionally with multiple partners inside and outside of the Marketing department, including Integrated Marketing, Creative, PR, Programming, and more. Above all, this person should be an expert communicator geared towards the passionate audiences that watch and champion our programming.
Responsibilities
include but are not limited to:
Digital Strategy & Campaign Development:
• Work cross-functionally to tailor the non-fiction programming across news, series and films into cohesive, 360 social & digital approach.
• Autonomously develop campaign strategies that are rooted in content, audience, and cultural insights. Guide creative, communications, and channel strategy.
• Coordinate the ideation and execution of digital campaign tactics (e.g. social, content, paid media, talent, influencers, events & experiences) which support the strategic vision and deliver against important metrics.
• Collaborate with the Editorial Director to identify genre and audience-specific insights. Partner with the VP of Awards to identify FYC social opportunities in support of ongoing Awards campaigns.
Social Media Channel & Content Oversight:
• Contribute to the ownership of Showtime's social presence as it connects to the non-fiction slate. Ongoing collaboration with a team of digital marketing managers and agency partners responsible for community management, copywriting, and content ideation, development & planning.
• Drive innovation across platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and more.
Measurement:
• In partnership with Vice President, set measurable metrics for non-fiction programming, at both the individual campaign and portfolio level.
• Encourage internal teams & external partners to regularly mine consumer insights to deliver the best content to our audiences across all platforms.
Team Management:
• Manage the day-to-day work, skill development, and career growth for direct reports.
• Serve as a leader in crafting a team culture that rewards employee engagement/participation, encourages creativity, curiosity, & out-of-the-box thinking drives accountability, and encourages cross-disciplinary collaboration.
• Assist in identifying internal process improvements and solutions to bolster team communication, collaboration, and efficiency.
Partnership & Relationship Building:
• Own and establish relationships with third-party creative and social agency partners.
• Partner with other internal departments, such as Talent, Creative, Campaign Management, Legal & Business Affairs, and more.
• Own relationships with key and emerging social platforms to ensure Showtime remains at the forefront of digital & social innovation.
• Build and maintain relationships with peers at ViacomCBS corporate and other networks to find cross-network alignments and share successful processes and takeaways in the space.
Basic Qualifications:
• Track record of successfully leading and inspiring a team.
• 8 years in digital marketing, developing strategies and implementing campaigns.
• Entertainment experience, preferably at an agency with a TV/streaming platform client or directly at a network/streaming platform.
• A love TV and love the internet.
• Experience covering on-the-ground events and relish the idea of attending screenings, set visits, premieres, parties, or red carpets on social media.
• Willingness to work nights and weekends, when necessary.
• Ability to travel to events, production locations, and other places, as required.
Additional Qualifications:
• Live and breathe social media, with a curiosity about what makes brands resonate and how to capture the attention of fandoms and drive them to take action.
• Nimble; can think fast on feet; not afraid to get hands dirty.
• A confident communicator who is able to collaborate with all types of people at all varying levels.
• Experience working on programming that requires supporting resources and/or social impact campaigns, for the good of the viewers.
• Existing relationships with entertainment contacts at leading social platforms.
• Experience working directly with A-List talent and talent management to participate in social campaigns and promote content on their social platforms.
• A love of Showtime programming is a big plus.
