Overview:
Do you love Library Science and working with metadata? We are looking for a Coordinator who will work closely with the Manager, Digital Asset Curation and the Sr. Manager of DAM Systems Operations. This Coordinator will work on the day-to-day processes of asset selection, metadata tagging, archive, and system maintenance and functionality for the Company’s enterprise-wide digital asset management system, SAMM-e! The coordinator will ensure standard methodologies and processes are maintained around archival and validation of all program asset types, from marketing and paperwork to full-length programming, for SHOWTIME original series, documentary features, docu-series, and sports programming! This person will also participate in helping maintain SAMM-e by reporting server outages, functionality issues, and other bugs, while also participating in ways to optimize SAMM-e’s performance.
Key Responsibilities:
• Coordinate and support the daily operations of asset migration, archive, and validation of new and legacy digital files -- from marketing and paperwork to full-length programming -- temporally stored on various network servers, drives and other identified media, awaiting ingest into to the Showtime DAM enterprise system (SAMM-e).
• Handle the system ingest and curation of various digital assets, tagging them with accurate metadata, ensuring standard practices related to file layout and naming conventions are upheld.
• Ensure accurate audio and video asset metadata is applied, including codecs, frame rates, audio configurations, and content details that conform to controlled vocabularies.
• Conduct quality control post ingest for digital video, image, paperwork, and audio elements, in addition to assets pulled from legacy physical video elements (LTO, DVD, HDCamSR and Digibeta tapes) to ensure required distribution standards, conventions, and specifications are met.
• Perform prequalification process on assets prior to ingest to ensure all image, video and audio elements accurately meet required standards and specifications. Report to managers immediately of any discrepancies.
• Assist in adding and updating English and foreign title metadata to the Company’s MAM system and verify that the accurate metadata populated into SAMM-e, validating controlled vocabularies are in alignment.
• Collaborate with the SAMM-e Sr. Manager with ongoing optimization of the DAM user interface, system navigation, workflow and metadata schemas.
• Help internal teams with various requests related to asset uploads, downloads, file sharing, metadata fixes, etc. Perform other duties as identified or assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
• 1 years of digital asset management experience, preferably in the media and entertainment business (strong internship experience considered)
• Bachelor's Degree Preferred
Additional Qualifications:
• Sufficient understanding of production and post-production elements, including digital video and audio file formats, audio configurations, video codecs, video and audio standards, aspect ratios, video and print resolutions, subtitle and caption formats required.
• Experience in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office Suite. MAC and PC proficient.
• Strong knowledge of file transfer applications such as Aspera and Signiant Media Shuttle.
• Previous experience with physical media tapes such as LTO, DVD-R, Digibeta and HDCamSR, etc.
• Must be a self-motivator, self-started who is extremely meticulous and organized.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
• The position requires the highest level of scrutiny of schema for metadata (e.g., technical, descriptive, operational).
