Sesame Workshop seeks a Senior Paralegal to work alongside a tight knit legal team on a variety of matters including those related to television development and production. We're looking for an experienced, detail-oriented person with first-rate communication skills, who is eager to work as part of an in-house legal team.
Responsibilities:
The Senior Paralegal will report directly to the Deputy General Counsel. Under the supervision of the Sesame Workshop attorneys, the Senior Paralegal will be responsible for:
•Reviewing, negotiating and drafting varying documents including talent and other services agreements
•Meeting with clients to collect information and provide client support
•Providing research and other assistance on various projects as needed
•Sheparding documents through all stages of the deal from commencement to execution
Requirements:
•Experience drafting, reviewing, editing and commenting to commercial contracts, involving film and television development, production, and distribution.
•5+ years relevant paralegal experience working in an in-house environment required; significant experience working with film and television transactional matters is required; experience working on matters involving streaming, interactive, and digital media is strongly preferred
•A bachelor's degree and paralegal certification or comparable experience
•Experience reviewing production agreements, including location agreements, appearance releases, materials release, footage licenses
•Experience with processes to help identify and create legal, production and rights and clearance processes
•High level understanding of guild and union agreements, working with minors and other production-related labor issues;
•Strong knowledge of music, copyrights, trademarks, and other theories and provisions central to film, television, streaming, and interactive media
•Strong attention to detail, commitment to quality, and passion for results
•Excellent organization and writing skills; ability to multitask, prioritize, and problem-solve; creativity and communication skills
•Aptitude for working as part of a team with a strong commitment to quality and passion for results; ability to communicate with internal parties at all levels and negotiate with external third parties
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to adapt quickly to new technology platforms; experience working with document management and/or workflow systems strongly preferred
