Full Time Unpaid Internship
OVERVIEW
This internship offers students a hands-on working experience helping the Corporate Partnership department, plan, execute and deliver on sponsor objectives with the Seattle Storm. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate, focused, detail oriented upperclassman undergraduate or a graduate student interested in a career in sports marketing.
Throughout the internship, you will work closely with our Corporate Partnership team to support sponsor activation including: gameday marketing, in-arena promotions, social media marketing, email marketing, and event marketing support among others. Each week you'll help develop marketing content, ensure that marketing content is utilized/executed, and assist to measure the success of each marketing campaign.
What you will do:
• Support Corporate Partnerships through research, development and implementation of marketing and activation platforms for Storm partners
• Assist in all aspects of activation including game night, corporate and community events
• Track and assure fulfillment of contractual obligations to Storm partners
• Assist in development of mid-season and end of season partner recaps
• Develop new ideas and participate in department brainstorms
• Attend and participate in weekly meetings surrounding sponsorship, marketing and ticket sales
• Help plan and implement a corporate partner summit event
• Other duties as assigned
What you will learn:

• What it takes to successfully maintain partner relationships
• What happens behind the scenes at a professional sports team, particularly as it relates to business development, partnerships and sponsorship
• How to communicate to partners and demonstrate to them the value of the partnership
What we ask of you:
Required:
• Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to assure high level of service and communications. Current student or recent graduate looking for internship credit
• Working towards earning a Bachelors or Masters degree in Business, Marketing, and/or Sports Management from a four year College or University
• Demonstrate a knowledge of promotional concepts and marketing principles
• Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Must be highly organized with the ability to multi task and a proven ability to handle high work volume
• Must have strong interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to maintain confidential information
• Must be available to work the majority of the home Storm games during the 2017 season (May – August 2017). Flexible work hours including at least 20 hours per week in the office plus nights and weekend, working at all Storm home games
Desired:
• Experience working for a sports organization; ideally collegiate, minor or pro
• Ability to present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and others as needed
• Sales and service background a plus
• Willingness to work sometimes irregular hours including nights and weekends
• Positive, can-do attitude, team player
