Environment Generalist (Houdini)

Reporting to the Environment Supervisor, the Environment Generalist creates high-level and diverse 3D environments for use in live-action feature films.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Create massive procedural photorealistic environments using procedural terrain generation and layout/scattering techniques assembled within Houdini based on previs, photographic reference, concept art, and rough layout
• Build component assets using traditional modeling/surfacing techniques as well as specialized tools such as SpeedTree
• Collaborate tightly with upstream departments like modeling and surfacing as well as downstream departments such as DMP, FX and lighting
• Provides and acquires photographic reference materials
• Revises work based on client and supervisor feedback in a timely manner
• Provides and receives artistic and technical dir
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
• Minimum three (3) years of previous experience as an Environment Artist for live action feature and/or television
• Strong understanding of 3D environment layout, procedural terrain generation, scattering
• Good understanding of modeling and PBR texturing/shading, lighting, rendering
• Good working experience using Houdini
• Working knowledge of Substance Painter or Mari, Nuke, Maya
• Strong willingness to grow, learn new methods and share knowledge with others
• Ability to work and solve technical issues independently
• Ability to take direction positively, work well within a team and thrives under the pressure of tight deadlines
• Excellent communication skills and an open mind
• Team player able to work in a collaborative and fast-paced environment
• Experience with Substance Designer, SpeedTree, Terragen, and GAEA a plus
• Unreal experience a plus
• DMP and projection skills a plus
• Scripting experience a plus
