SCAD seeks a carpenter/painter to support the School of Entertainment Arts with industry-standard sets for television, live performance, themed entertainment and interactive experiences.
With collaborations throughout SCAD this position will work on building industry standard sets for television, live performance, themed entertainment, and interactive experiences. In this role, you will supervise students enrolled in production design and performing arts carpentry and painting practicums each quarter. This includes assisting students at the Crites Hall scene shop and at performance venues such as Hamilton Hall studios A, B and C, Savannah Film Studios, Mondanaro Theater and Arnold Hall, as well as non-traditional site-specific interactive projects, multiple on-location film sets and the university's first virtual reality attraction.
The ideal candidate has a portfolio that demonstrates high-level carpentry and painting experience in film, TV, live theater, or themed entertainment. In addition to experience with CNC machines, 3-D printing and laser cutting, you should demonstrate a familiarity with entertainment arts rigging, electronics and CAD drafting software such as AutoCAD, VRay, Rhino and KeyShot.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in production design, or equivalent professional experience
- Ability to drive a 16- or 24-foot box truck on a daily basis
