Position Summary:
The San Francisco Giants Application Development team is seeking an experienced Software Engineer that will impact the Giants analytic efforts across all business units. You will work with a team to evolve our business data systems, as a new Business Analytics group takes shape with accountability across all business departments and needs.
The focus of the role will be to develop, implement, support and enhance software applications that contribute to the Giants' business objectives, with priorities around database development and integrations. Play a key role by capturing, processing, disseminating and reporting information and data from external sources and the enterprise data warehouse to assist in corporate decision-making.
We are looking for a candidate with a passion for the business of baseball and technology that will research and develop new solutions to enhance our efforts and help us achieve our goals.
Position Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve software applications
• Assist in the development of the cloud-based enterprise data warehouse
• Build and maintain data integrations and ETL pipelines, as well as build web applications
• Provide excellent customer support for all our business systems
• Work on projects from conception to completion, including building prototypes
• Help shape the future of our analytic and business intelligence platforms
• Work with business process owners to understand the business need and develop technical solutions that integrate existing and future applications into the organization's information systems
• Provide data management expertise to the company by evaluating requirements and developing solutions
• Identify opportunities for automation and data integration between source systems and assist with implementation Identify opportunities to improve our business information and our data strategies
• Assist in other data/development needs
• Evening, weekend and occasional holiday availability
Technical Skills/Experience:
• Cloud Computing: Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services, or Microsoft Azure
• General purpose programming languages: Java, C/C , C#, Python, JavaScript, or Go
• Databases/stores: Snowflake, Microsoft SQL Server, Google BigQuery, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Redis
• Web application frameworks: Django, Flask, Angular, Polymer, React, or Bootstrap
Knowledge and Skills:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field or equivalent practical experience
• 4 years of relevant work experience, including development and/or test automation experience
• Good knowledge of algorithms and fundamental computer science concepts
• Strong communication skills and great product sense
• Significant experience in system design as well as scaling systems
• Strong quantitative abilities and existing knowledge of business analytics
