Overview
Spurs Sports & Entertainment is looking for an experienced, dynamic manager to join our family! The person in this role will lead our Building Event Operations team through the daily activities for event operations including successful preparation, conversion, and execution of events at AT&T Center. He/She will lead a team of full-time, part-time and temporary employees while driving efficiency, accountability and innovation. Does this sound like a fit for you? Responsibilities
• Ensure arena setup and equipment are in compliance with all NBA Operational requirements.
• Review, amend and train employees on operational procedures, preventive maintenance schedules, inventory controls, and setup inspections completing them to the highest standards.
• Guide direct reports as they coordinate with employees in various functions. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and coaching employees; addressing complaints and resolving issues.
• Maintain effective working relationships, handle performance and financials for third party contractors such as housekeeping, temporary labor and waste.
• Assist in the preparation of the annual operating budget and event cost estimates/analysis for specific areas of responsibility. Oversee cost accounting for house equipment rental, supplies, event supervision and personnel.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Bachelors degree in a related field or, equivalent experience and training lieu of degree. (Minimum 5 years will be considered.)
• 2 years supervisory, management and/or leadership experience.
• 6 years of event experience with professional sports team(s) & concerts.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule; including long work hours, some overnights, evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills to collaborate with diverse staff, while possessing a tenacious work ethic
• Must be detail-oriented and highly organized with an ability to simultaneously balance multiple tasks and adapt to change.
• Ability to complete projects and resolve issues expeditiously, independently and with minimal direction, while showing initiative and good judgment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrate poise, tact and diplomacy.
• Must have the ability to walk and stand for long periods of time and navigate through stairways in an arena setting.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of this job, which include being able to get in and around the facility (requires personal mobility), lifting (min. of 75lbs), carrying, moving, climbing, working from various heights, and moderate to loud noises.
