POSITION PURPOSE:
The National Director, Software Development and Support role is responsible for the strategic management, success, stability, and growth of the SAG-AFTRA application ecosystem. This includes the management of resources dedicated to overall software development management. This role is critical to ensuring an integrated and forward looking approach to application management, which is critical to the overall success of the business.
This position directs and oversees the entire software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering and analysis, planning, software development and coding, quality assurance, user acceptance, deployment and application maintenance.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Reports directly to the Executive Director of Technology & Residuals and works with the I.T. leadership team on organization-wide technology planning, budgeting, impact analysis and risk management
• Must be a strategic thinker with experience in architecting solutions for immediate needs as well as the long range technical direction for application development and support
• Provides direction, oversight and coordination of software development, QA and support resources as well as external software development and support vendors
• Provides advice, guidance and support to Department Heads on technology-based solutions to improve operational productivity
• Provides advice and coordination for analysis of data related needs and issues
• Assures the strategic integration of applications and infrastructure to make the most of our technology investments
• Develops and maintain standard operating procedures, and standard SDLC methodologies, to ensure the best functional performance of the applications
• Ensures that SLAs are established and upheld, and that escalated issues are handled appropriately
• Directs and manages the human resources responsible for supporting and growing the SAG-AFTRA application ecosystem
• Defines and measures goals and performance indicators for direct reports, and assuring this is done for all resources in the department
• Shares regular feedback with employees regarding performance and addressing issues as necessary
• Hires, manages, develops and motivates quality employees
• Plays a key role in the annual budgeting for software development, including a regular review of budget-to-actual performance, and work to adjust as necessary
• Serves as a key driver for the SAG-AFTRA technology roadmap and overall strategy
• Maintains awareness of new and emerging technologies and their potential application in support of staff and member initiatives
• Forecasts technology requirements
• Advises Leadership regarding technology options, including costs/benefits, and recommended strategies
• Develops business cases for technology purchases, and win approval for technology initiatives
• Demonstrates value of purchases at project conclusion
• Engages directly with delivery teams and stakeholders to gather requirements, develop custom solutions, and ensure client satisfaction with delivered services and solutions.

• Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined at SAG-AFTRA’s sole discretion
• Must be available and willing to work extended hours (and/or overtime for applicable non- exempt positions)per day or per week, including weekends and holidays, as SAG-AFTRA determines is necessary to meet its business needs
• Must be available and willing to travel to such locations and with such frequency as the SAG-AFTRA determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
and/or Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business, or other relevant field strongly preferred. MBA a plus.
• 5-7 years of proven experience managing individual employee day-to-day task execution and directing the activities of manager-level employees responsible for specific elements of application management across the enterprise.
• 7 years of experience serving in a technical lead role
• 7 years of experience overseeing customer-facing web development.
