Full Time Job
Oversee and manage daily functions of the department including supervisory duties. Support National Director in implementation of all related initiatives and policies; make effective recommendations regarding processes, focusing on the day-to-day set coverage (and follow-up when necessary) as well as departmental functions and practices.
Responsibilities
• Under oversight of National Director, daily management and supervision of the department, including disciplinary procedures where necessary.
• Assign daily set coverage of the Business Representatives in NY, responsible for weekend assignments of set coverage as necessary; approval by National Director when necessary.
• Provide support to Business Representatives handling issues, grievances, concerns on set and following up on matters left unresolved to find effective resolutions wherever possible.
• Visit sets on occasion, or when necessary, assessing Business Representatives performing duties or troubleshooting certain larger issues or concerns, inspecting locations, etc.
• Provide hands-on training to new and current Business Representatives and support staff.
• Answer contract questions for all Business Representatives as needed.
• Provide contract interpretation, working conditions information, as requested by performers and employers.
• Assist the National Director in creating and implementing policies and procedures within the department. Recommend policy and procedure changes for the department to National Director; coordinate and implement changes as necessary.
• Attend departmental, pre-production, and other meetings as needed.
• Provide information and guidance to local SAG-AFTRA offices with respect to on-set issues or concerns and assist in resolution of disputes.
• Assist National Director in oversight of Regional Set Relations Representatives, keeping track of their itineraries and set reports; may need to travel to their regions to join them on set visits.
• Maintain, monitor and evaluate time and attendance records for the department. Manage department coverage and schedules.
• Special projects and other additional duties as assigned by the National Director.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
• Demonstrated proficiency in the interpretation and administration of the various Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs) monitored and enforced on set by the Field Services department.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to effectively communicate with producers, UPMs, and ADs on issues or concerns occurring on location that require enforcement, effective resolution or clarification based on the provisions in SAG-AFTRA CBAs.
• Ability to identify areas where new procedures will streamline processes and create efficiency within the department.
• Ability to represent the department within and outside the organization.
• Must be available and willing to travel to such locations and with such frequency as SAG-AFTRA determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.
• Proficient in PC applications.
• Ability to work well with minimum direction.
• Detail oriented, possess the ability to organize, prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks under deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability and initiative to take on unanticipated problems and assume responsibilities beyond normal duties.
• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality of information.
• Must be able to work in a very fast-paced, high-pressure, challenging environment where constructive feedback from others is encouraged.
• Have an understanding and awareness of worker rights impacting SAG-AFTRA members.
• Hold yourself and others accountable for a high level of performance and integrity.
• Superlative interpersonal skills: high degree of patience and tact. Must be able to cultivate strategic and collaborative relationships, internally and externally.
• Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined at SAG-AFTRA’s sole discretion.
• Must be available and willing to work extended hours per day or per week, including weekends and holidays, as SAG-AFTRA determines is necessary to meet its business needs.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
• Four-year undergraduate degree from accredited college or university preferred; advanced degree a plus; and 5 years’ applicable experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Thorough knowledge of the procedures and practices of on-set representation, the monitoring and enforcement of SAG-AFTRA CBAs on location, a major plus.
Certificates, licenses, and/or registrations:
• Must have a current driver license, automobile (in reliable working condition), and current automobile insurance that meets the state minimum requirements.
