Responsibilities
What You’ll Do
The Linux Administrator is responsible for maintaining the Linux server infrastructure. In addition, this includes working with the team to provide high-quality customer support and technical expertise to the organization and to internal IT customers as well. The responsibilities span from the SAG-AFTRA headquarters office to numerous local offices throughout the U.S.

• Maintain the Linux server infrastructure. This includes hands-on management of Linux systems, which encompasses but is not limited to: Red Hat Enterprise Linux, RedHat Satellite, Ubuntu Linux, Canonical Landscape, as well as installed software such as Apache, MySQL, Tomcat, Geronimo, Subversion, OpenLDAP, etc. Must have an understanding of VMWare, SAN Storage, Load Balancers, NFS, DNS, and SNMP Management.
• Maintain Linux system patches and security. Ensure compliance with best practices and regulatory requirements – such as PCI compliance.
• Familiarity of Secure certificate management a plus.
• Working knowledge of Cloud based service integration with ‘on-prem’ environments
• Proactive system monitoring and auditing of all event logs and alerts.
• Ability to handle all Linux Administration duties when related staff not available; Vacation, out sick, etc…
• Manage HelpDesk tickets and provide timely resolution to problems in accordance with service level agreements.
• Provide first tier IT support to staff (both within IT and in other departments). In addition, provide second tier IT support to Helpdesk team.
• Research complex issues to find solutions. Test new software and hardware options.
• Be aware of latest security threats and be able to quickly respond or recommend course of action to IT Management as threats arise.
• Maintain updated system documentation.
• On a scheduled rotation, provide off-hours emergency coverage for evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Participate in project planning and implementations.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and make recommendations on technology adoption.
• Performs other duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.
Qualifications

• Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Good project management skills and demonstrated experience with change management.
• A high degree of attention to detail.
• Ability to work well under pressure required.
• Proficient with administrating RedHat Enterprise and Ubuntu Linux.
• Proficient with Linux shell scripting: bash, awk, expect, sed, perl.
• Knowledge of basic MS Windows administration and understand Active Directory and Linux integration.
• Proficient with Apache; Tomcat; Subversion; Nginx; Geronimo; Drupal; MySQL;
• Familiar with protocols such as TCP/IP, NFS, LDAP, SMTP, SNMP, SSL, DNS, HTTPS, openSSH, SSSD.
• Knowledge of code deployment and change management procedures (GIT, SVN, Jenkins).
• Understanding of the entertainment industry a plus but not required.
• Able to organize and coordinate multiple tasks under daily deadlines.
• Superlative interpersonal skills—must be able to cultivate strategic and collaborative relationships internally and externally.
• Able to prioritize tasks.
• Capable of taking direction from more than one manager in an environment where constructive feedback is encouraged.
• Hold yourself and others accountable for a high level of performance and integrity.
• Have an understanding and awareness of worker rights impacting SAG-AFTRA members.
• Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined at SAG-AFTRA’s sole discretion.
• Must be available and willing to work extended hours (and/or overtime for applicable non- exempt positions) per day or per week, including weekends and holidays, as SAG-AFTRA determines is necessary to meet its business needs.
• Must be available and willing to travel to such locations and with such frequency as SAG-AFTRA determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
and/or Experience:
• College degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
• Minimum three (3) years providing server administration and support.
Certificates, licenses, and/or registrations:
• Ubuntu Certified professional (UCP); LPI certification.
• RedHat Certified Engineer (RHCE); LPI certification or Linux certification – preferred.
