Coordinator (EEO/Diversity)
POSITION PURPOSE:
To provide full level of support with the day-to-day operations of the Department.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Support Department and diversity-related committees in meetings, events, programs and initiatives with SAG-AFTRA members, SAG-AFTRA staff, producers/filmmakers, networks, studios, advertising agencies and their agents (producers, directors, writers, casting directors, agents, and managers etc.) and industry stakeholders on diversity issues. Currently includes: American Indians, Asian Pacific American Media, Ethnic Employment Opportunities (EEO), Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT), Performers with Disabilities (PWD), seniors, Women’s and Diversity Advisory.
• Provide full complement of support to assure success in delivery of services through working knowledge of department’s procedures and policies regarding equal opportunity, harassment and non-discrimination. Coordinate intake of phone calls and other inquiries regarding sexual harassment and discrimination claims by members.
• Implement contract compliance of Policy of Non-Discrimination and Diversity pursuant to the SAG-AFTRA’s collective bargaining agreements and relevant federal and state non-discrimination and equal employment opportunity laws. Specifically: intake, claims, analysis and reporting related to Casting Data Reports and other employment and demographic information available.
• Coordinate Department responses to inquiries, requests for assistance and information from members, staff, public/civic/community organizations, media, and other industry stake-holders.
• Provide administrative/office duties.
• Perform other duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.
Qualifications
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
(The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.)
• Superior organization skills and detail oriented with ability to prioritize workload effectively while meeting deadlines on time or ahead of schedule.
• Dedication to workers’ rights and social justices, specifically around sensitive issues related to race, national origin, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age and disability.
• Proven outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
• Prior experience with event planning and execution; knowledge of process to secure entertainment industry and media personalities a plus.
• Knowledge and comprehension of issues related to diversity, non-discrimination issues and equal employment opportunity principles a plus.
• Able to accurately type 55 WPM.
• Able to use PC applications.
• Superlative interpersonal skills: Must be able to cultivate respectful, strategic and collaborative relationships with people from diverse backgrounds both internally and externally with a high degree of patience, tact, discretion and empathy.
• Have an understanding and awareness of worker rights impacting SAG-AFTRA members.
• Hold yourself and others accountable for a high level of performance and integrity.
• Capable of taking direction from more than one supervisor.
• Must be able to work in a challenging environment where constructive feedback from others is encouraged.
• Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined at SAG-AFTRA’s sole discretion.
• Must be available and willing to work extended hours (and/or overtime for applicable non- exempt positions) per day or per week, including weekends and holidays, as SAG-AFTRA determines is necessary to meet its business needs.
• Must be available and willing to travel to such locations and with such frequency as SAG-AFTRA determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education
and/or Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher learning or 3-5 years equivalent experience.
• Significant experience in event planning, programming and evaluation.
• Experience in film, television, commercial, new media, broadcast news, sound recordings, and/or radio industries or community based organizations focused on issues of diversity, affirmative action and equal employment opportunities.
