Communications & Outreach Representative ( Local)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Research/develop content, manage, coordinate and edit communications for Playback Magazine, Chicago Activator E-Newsletter, Chicago email blasts, and the Chicago web page.
• Oversee member outreach events, including committee events, New Member Orientations, organizing events and other industry expositions.
• Create and facilitate actor training programs, including hands-on member training and outreach initiatives.
• Format, coordinate approvals and disseminate electronic communications to all Chicago SAG-AFTRA members on a daily basis. Manage incoming member email and forward.
• Assist Executive Director in creating responses to local media inquiries, in coordination with the Communications & Marketing department, when needed.
• Work independently with organizations outside of SAG-AFTRA in an effort to find outreach and education opportunities.
• Identify opportunities to organize SAG-AFTRA member participation in industry and community-wide campaigns of importance to SAG-AFTRA members.
• Conduct outreach to high profile members on issues of importance to SAG-AFTRA and coordinate with the local Executive Director on high-profile member outreach.
• Appear on SAG-AFTRA's behalf at expos and other public events.
• Primary point of contact for all local committee meetings, activity coordination and communications functions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Professional, confident and highly approachable demeanor at all times.
• Proficient in Constant Contact, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint; have the ability to learn publications programs quickly.
• Demonstrated ability to thrive in team environment while achieving objectives through increased levels of self-sufficiency.
• Strong attention to detail; creative problem solving skills.
• Capable of working effectively under pressure, and to organize, prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks under daily deadlines.
• Ability to accurately type 40 WPM
• Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Capable of taking direction from more than one supervisor.
• Superlative interpersonal skills: high degree of patience and tact. Must be able to cultivate respectful, strategic and collaborative relationships with people from diverse backgrounds both internally and externally.
• Have an understanding and awareness of worker rights impacting SAG-AFTRA members.
• Hold yourself and others accountable for a high level of performance and integrity.
• Must be able to work in a challenging environment where constructive feedback from others is encouraged.
• Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined at SAG-AFTRA's sole discretion.
• Must be available and willing to work extended hours per day or per week, including weekends as SAG-AFTRA determines is necessary to meet its business needs.
• Must be available and willing to travel to such locations and with such frequency as SAG-AFTRA determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
and/or Experience:
• Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least 2 years of relevant work experience.
• Demonstrated and proven proficiencies in creative and advocacy writing skills, preferred.
• Demonstrated high degree of proficiency and past experience with public speaking, in both prepared and extemporaneous forums, preferred.
