POSITION: Director, Event Production
DEPARTMENT: Events
MANAGER: VP, Experiences and Social Responsibility
Summary:
The Director of Event Production oversees the execution of all Kings related events and special events at Golden 1 Center and manages a dedicated events team. The ideal candidate will have great people and project management skills with a proven track record of improving and growing a department. The director implements best practices and procedures within the events operations structure, and with the interaction of team members for the successful execution of various events. The director works with various departments to support cohesiveness and motivation and fosters a pro-active coaching environment within the event production team.
Key Responsibility Areas (KRA's):
• Management responsibilities over the Kings event teams.
• Identify the needs of internal clients as it relates to special events.
• Plan, manage and produce special events with events team that meet the needs of internal clients.
• Maintain a vendor and facilities database with regular updates.
• Stakeholder in planning process responsible for leading and influencing cross-functional teams in support of business objectives and customer objectives.
• Ensures company alignment and enforces timelines on projects with assigned teams to ensure successful and timely execution.
• Analytical ability to monitor profitability and cost effectiveness during event planning and implementation.
• Represent the event team in client responses, presentations and in client/partner escalation issues.
• Review vendor contracts and serve as point of escalation for vendor issues.
• Quality control operations documents: key dates, budgets, program reports, event specs, all and event wrap-up reports.
• Provide on-site management support during special events, as required.
• Ensure a great customer experience throughout the event process.
• Utilize analytics to measure success of events, make modifications/recommendations for future events and performance analysis.
• Actively create an environment which pushes for outstanding performance, from both the internal teams and for clients.
• Hold events team accountable for results and ensure necessary analysis is undertaken to improve future events.
• Responsible for developing and implementing improvements to Special Events systems and processes.
• An organizational master; understands roles & responsibilities of cross-functional teams and fully engages other departments to achieve objectives.
• Excellent communicator with strong presentation skills.
• Passion for the events industry.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from four-year college or university in Event Management, Production Management, Business Logistics or related field.
• 5 years experience in special event planning/management.
• Effective budgeting skills and broad knowledge of fair market value for the rental and events management world.
• Ability to meet strict deadlines.
• Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Excellent time-management, problem-prevention and problem-solving skills.
• Capable of working extended hours such as nights, weekends, overtime, and on-call as needed.
